when i go to play many of the games on my new computer, theres this strange flicker/stutter/twitch in the screen, it was like this with FFXI, World in conflict, CoH:OF, and STALKER.

i have an 8400gs, and a BENQ FP567s monitor.

i tried to use fraps tor ecord it, but it looks alot less visable in the recorded video, so could this have something to do with my monitor?

my brother has the same computer hardwarewise, with the exception of my monitor and an extra HDD he doesnt have it as much, but gets it sometime.

it doesnt happen in oblivion, or UT2k4, anyone have any advice?

im pretty sure its not overheating, its got a decent heatsink, and its not warm at all, should be clean, its only a few days old.

im pretty sure my power supplys big enough for all the crap in it, i used this site to check before i got it.

updated my videocard drivers, pretty sure i did my processor drivers as well as this dual core optimizer thing from amds site.

ive got an amd athlon 64 x2 dual core proccesor 4200+ 2.21 GHz

2 gigs of ram, not sure of the type, ASUS M2N-E ATX AM2 Nforce 570 Ultra PCI-E16 PCI-E4 2PCI-E1 3PCI SATA RAID Sound GBLAN Motherboard.

im startring to notice it a tiny bit while surfing some web pages aswell, which i had no problems with on my old comp (same monitor, fx 5500 vid card).

it doesnt seem to affect performance, buts its like the screen twitches, might try to capture it on video again if i can.

I think that turning Vsync on would solve the problem. :)

i plan on getting a new monitor, so hopefully its just a problem between my vid card and the monitor.

ive tried turning vsync force on in global settings in my nvidia manager, doesnt seem to help.

case of dirty power? not quite sure what you mean, but the power supplys should be clean, there almost brand new, unless you mean something else.

dirty power is when your house electricty doesn't give out a constant rate of power...itvaries from 10-15w(or what ever unit they use to measure electricty out of the socket). this slowly kills any electronic that isn't on a power strip that delievers a constant stream of power....

it's not super common, but i happened to me....so i always consider it an option when something goes wrong....it killed 3 of my xbox360's before i figured it out....

well if it is dirty power, then it's already done it's damage, and your gonna have to start looking at a few major replacements....

can't take it over to a friends house to test?

i dont have any friends that live around here, but weve had 2 computers running almost non stop in this house before, and there were no problems with the exception of a burnt out power supply from leaving it on 24/7.

if that is the problem, not much i can do, theres no way we can rewire the house or anything.

i really cant see it being that, if i can play oblivion on high and not see it, and play stalker on low and see it.

well, thanks for the help, and hopeully its the monitor, and my pc doesnt die any time soon.

This does sound quite strange, what refresh rate is your monitor at? Perhapse try 75Hz and see how that goes.

On the potential power issue, I had a problem a couple of weeks back where my computer would run check disk when ever I booted and it always found errors. I assumed it was my HDD on it's last legs but one day my computer just failed to boot at all. Checked my surge protector and it had burnt out, I believe my computer was drawing too much power for it to take and was causing my computer to lose power while shutting down every time. With a better grade surge protector I haven't had a problem with it since, try a different surge protector, different make and brand to the one you are using currently.

Don't know if any of that could help you but it's worth a shot.

Have fun

ive tried all 4 of my refresh rates i think, 60, 70, 72, and 75.

definetly going to try tog et a better surge protector, and if that doenst work, hopefully a new monitor will.

either way, this issue isnt as annoying as the lag i would get on my old computer, so its not all bad, thanks for the help everyone
