So, I had to RMA my monitor last week and the replacement arrived today, with two stuck pixels :(

I've spent a couple of hours googling common ways to fix them and so far nothing has worked. So I'm just wondering if any fellow GameSpotters know of any magic techniques that worked for you?

I can't RMA this replacement because they don't count two stuck pixels as faulty.

From experience, no. I've tried the software method (flashing lights at point of problem) and the pressure on screen method. Neither worked for me, but you are willing to try them as some claim the have worked for them (highly skeptical though).

Yup, I've tried all of them. These stuck pixels are tough! :(

Ah i read your post again, sorry i hope you will fix the problem. Just out of curiosity, what are stuck pixels? do they keep lighting white no matter what? because my monitor has one of these.

Yes, or a colour. I have a blue one and a red one. :( Luckily they aren't dead and black all the time, because that would truly annoy me, but still, these are pretty damn annoying. :(

It might be nothing for a normal person, but unfortunately I am incredibly anal about stuff like that. :( I'm sure I'll get used to them eventually, but it's still annoying.

The white pixel usually means the transistors are dead and the light is passing right through the RGB layer

Having long suffered with Thunderbug infestations in my monitor(s), I know how infinitely irritating having a blip on the screen is. It's bizarre that a stuck pixel doesn't count as a defect. Afterall, they are caused by a transistor malfunctioning. Would it count if the pixels were dead?

There are apparently some pixel-fixing softwares available, although I have no idea which was are reputible and/or work effectively. Other than that, you can try gently rubbing or tapping the affected area, and hope that will eventually reset them.

I don't know what the limits are but most company's say that you must have over a certain number of dead pixels before they count it as defective.

I was debating trying this, I have a couple of rare earth magnets laying around, but won't be trying it anytime soon.

Nope, it would be the same as if they were dead. They only count it as faulty if it's more than 5 dead pixels, on my size of monitor. The larger the screen size gets, the more dead pixels you have to have for it to be considered faulty. I understand that, but it's still very frustrating. Some companies provide a "no dead pixel" guarantee, but this one isn't one of them, much to my dismay.

Hmm, I don't have one anyway, but I don't know if I would risk that. Still, thanks for the suggestion anyway. Any suggestion is a good one at this point.

Tried all of the techniques, rubbing and software, nothing worked on my 24" Acer with one "on" pixel center-left. Damn that thing was annoying, would probably have preferred a dead one compared to that shiny beacon staring me in the face. Shucked that monitor today though and got a shiny 27" benq, flawless (so far *knocks on a huge quantity of wood*)...

I think that's what it's going to come down to. I either have to wait for this monitor to actually become faulty, or it will disappear when I buy a new monitor anyway, which is a good while away. :(
