Make sure you've enabled processing on all cores in your motherboard BIOS.

I am familiar with the bios, but what exactly am I looking for in order to enable all cores? I thought that was pretty much automatic when the system boots.

^ LOL, one time there was a P4 that didn't have hyperthreading enabled, after i did that in the BIOS it was fine. I don't see that being the case with a Core 2 Quad though :?

update. or else window XP REPAIR if window xp REPAIR leave bug re-install
you have to re-install in most case. your window XP Each time or do a XP REPAIR so it reconize your new hardware wich is in case a new added cpu

but if you just change power-supply : ram : or video card
then it not needed if hard-drive it where os is. then it as to be re-install tough
only cpu & new motherboard & new hard drive can really force you to re-install XP
best solution backup ur stuff. so that you don't lost ur important data.

The system is brand new with a fresh install of XP Pro service pak 3. I have updated the bios, and all other drivers. Puzzling, isn't it?

Ok, so since I have all new equipment and a new mother board, with my fresh install of XP pro I should see all 4 cores in task Manager. Correct? Would it matter if I installed service pak 3? Since I am not showing all 4 cores, does this mean I am not utilizing 2 cores? Even cpu-z only shows 2. I'm confused.
