Have just downloaded some holiday pics from a memory stick that my missus was using to store them on and Norton picked up a security threat. Having dealt with it an restarted my comp, two desktop.ini files have appeared on my Desktop.

Anyone shed any light onwhy these files have suddenly appearedand is it okay just to delete them?

Yeah tried that but it says they don't. Might just delete them then see what happens.

they are not harmful .... i don't know exactly what they are , but they are hidden files and i think they are essential to the OS . if u didn't change setting to show hidden files , then they are probebly not related with the os. i have them too hope this helps perhaps someone with more knowledge can help more than i did . :)

Cool, cheers for that. By the looks of it (and for some reason) my settings had changed to show all hidden files, so I've changed it back and the files are gone.

Cheers for the advice.
