Hello, all. This is my first post, and I regret it has to be made. I'm running a 2002/2003 Windows XP system, Service Pack 2 installed. My video card is NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 (current driver version = 6.14.11.7516).

I bought Age of Mythology and Diablo II years ago, and they've always run perfectly well. As of about a month ago, though, they've been screwing up. Every time I start either of the two games, I can move the cursor for a few seconds, but then the game freezes for about ten seconds straight. The music "skips" for about two seconds, and then the cycle starts over. Just before the freezing itself starts, the graphics get all crazy-looking. Ergo, I assume it's the video card. I use these two games because they're the only "newer" games I have; I can't tell you if it'd happen with anything else.

Is this a common problem? What can I do to fix it? I've already tried the advice on this page and it didn't help me at all. Unfortunately, I haven't had SystemRestore turned on in forever, so I'm afraid to roll back to any previous state. I've already tried installing so many new and old drivers that I'm not sure I can roll those back reliably, either. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Also, I have just noticed another problem: I have a PS/2-compatible USB optical mouse (two buttons, one wheel). When I move my mouse cursor against the far left side of my screen, it disappears at a certain point. I tried taking a screenshot of my desktop to illustrate the pointer problem, and THIS came up: link. The text I wrote in the screenshot reads: "Mouse cursor disappears in this circled area / This is how my desktop appears when I take a screenshot of it."

My mouse cursor disappears just a few pixels from the left side of my screen and can "travel" for a while, such that if I push it to the left for a few seconds once it's disappeared, it will take a few seconds for me to drag it back on-screen. I'm sorry to bump this thread, but this is becoming a major pain in the butt.
