I haven't played many RTSs,Only the AoE series and AoM,but I love them.

Can anyone suggest me some RTSs which have similiar gameplay?I like the way different units have different strengths in AoE;Like, you can't just create lots of infantry and expect to win against cavalary.Should I get a 'command and conquer' game?

^Like he said, if you wanted C&C games then pick westwood classics cause EA C&C's are crap. Relic's DoW 1 and COH have base building too but differs in resource management both are really fun and entertaining games. :)

Check out Command and Conquer 3 and Starcraft.
Company of Heroes is also a superb game, but it's a more tactical experience, where you have to make use of cover, flanking etc.

C&C is not really a game that rewards careful use of certain units against certain units - the definition of strengths and weaknesses is very basic throughout the series, and the games simply reward strength in numbers over tactics. They're fun, but I'm not sure if they're what you're looking for.

I've always liked the Total War series (up to Rome, before they started using Steam) for the same reasons (the need to consider carefully which the strengths and weaknesses of the units) but it takes a rather different tack to AoE. I've not played Rise of Nations myself, I've heard good things though.

Of course, I'm a Battle Isle man myself... ;)

Supreme Commander 2 comes out on March 5th, it's looking fairly awesome from what I've seen so far.

C and fking C 3!!!! leave this thread now. In all seriousness though. Get red alert 2 and I believe there are some older ones that were thrown up recently such as Red alert (1) on the C&C home page for free! Total War is good too, but doesn't sound like your cup o' tea. You may like total annihilation if you can find a copy, Oh and of course play star craft 1

Hah. No. Command & Conquer 3 is a good game. :| Not as good as the oldies mind, but I thought I'd suggest him a newer title in the franchise.

Start with this one TC. From what I read some of the people who worked on AoE worked on Rise Of Nations. Nonetheless, it's the most similar experience to AoE you'll find outside of AoE itself. Think of it as the evolution to AoE2. And if you don't like the fact that the ages go up until the 21st century, you can always limit the tech up to whatever age you prefer. The game introduced some nice concepts such as country borders I've just started playing Supreme Comander and I like the game, but hell you're gonna have a tough time the first few games. With Normal AI I got slaughtered the first 4 games, and on the 5th after sucessfully holding my own after the first waves of enemies and estabilishing defenses outside my main camp, I got destroyed in 2 minutes by 2 single bombers of the AI. Destroyed my shields protecting the camp, and killed my commander, which in turn blew nearly all of my base. You'll also find the economy hard to manage because you're not used to it. Still, I'm liking it and between SupCom, Company Of Heroes and World In Conflict, this is the one you'll probably enjoy the most. Still, I have to note that WiC is a fantastic game. SupCom2 comes out next week, it has a more traditional economy and improved interface and graphics, so I'd get that one. PS: You should get SupCom Forged Alliance, the expansion to the first game.

Company of Heroes + Expansions

World in Conflict + Expansion

Dawn of War 2 (Chaos Rising Expansion isn't out yet but you might want to pick it up when it is)

Warcraft 3 + Expansion

Sins of a Solar Empire (Expansions didn't really change up the way I play but go for it anyway)
