I'm getting an AMD 64 3200 + @ 2GHz
with a XFX 6600 Vanilla (256 bit) card..
Tell me some games that can be played on my system...

EDIT : The only problem/constraint is my RAM.. it's only 256 MB DDR.
I have no plans of upgrading RAM as I'm cash-strapped right now.. EDIT ENDS

I have 1GB DDR RAM now!! :)

So suggest me ,say, 5-10 games...

Maybe before you buy the games, you should save up for the RAM.  10 games at full price (49.99 without tax) can go up to $500, most of the time though they are around 39.99.  Still, just save your money up just abit more.

If you are using XP, you definitely wanna save for more RAM.  That requires like a minimum of 512mb to run games properly.  I don't know anything about Vista, but I'm guessing that probably uses a lot of RAM also.  You could try a couple older games, they might work.  Look for titles that were released in 2004 or earlier, you might be OK with those.

you should be able to play older games like Deus Ex 1, theres an interesting one that came out recently called Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth, it doesn't have heavy requirements at all and it's quite a fun game.

these are some games you should be able to play with your set up Red Faction Return to Castle Wolfenstein Morrowind GTA3 (only on low settings) Half-Life CS 1.6 UT2K3 FarCry (you can play it, but you should wait tell you have more RAM, 256MB is the minimum)

Even older, lower powered games might hiccup and not run properly with 256 MB ram, since that is the minimum that XP can even run on.  Even if you get an additional chip of 256 MB ram to add, that gives you 512, which, while not ideal (1 gb is ideal for xp systems), will definitely help you run smooth.  You can get a 256 MB chip for LESS than the price of a game!  Seriously, you can get 256 for like $20.

So here are some game suggestions, all of which are great games, are not state of the art, and that your system can run flawlessly, with the 256 RAM upgrade:

Halo
Warcraft 3
Return to Castle Wolfenstien
Guild Wars
Rome: Total War
Civilization 4
Galactic Civilizations 2: Dark Avatar

I'd steer clear of Doom3, Far Cry, basically any bleeding-edge first person shooter type game.  Alot of them run crummy on a new maxed out rig.  And, you want 1GB ram

Good Luck!

If you have Vista you can use the "ready boost".  What this does is allow you to use a fast memory flash drive as RAM.  For people who don't have a lot of RAM in there computer and a 2-4 gig flash drive set up for ready boost, there comp. would run better and be able to handle more games.  If you have Vista.

What kinda games need more than 2 GBs to run smoothly? Only if your running on Vista, aka the RAM eater.

Man, Vista sucks so much because of this that I'm just hoping they will release DX to Windows XP, then I just get a copy of Windows XP 64-bit edition and I'm all set.
