Suggestions for getting a new video card for gaming

I want to upgrade the video card on my new PC for two reasons. I have the LG 19 inch widescreen monitor that can do 1440 X 900 and the current video card cannot do that setting. Also, I want to some gaming and I know my current video card isn't the greatest for the newer games. Here is what I have...

AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core processor 5000+ 2.60 GHz (my computer says it's a 5200+)

2GB RAM

NVIDIA GeForce 6150 LE

I checked and my power supply is 300W. I know I'm going to have to upgrade that if I am going to install a better video cards. Any advice on a new power supply and video card? Also, will 300W handle anything decent that is out right now? I really want to upgrade because the 6150 is just horrible with my monitor and whenever I watch a movie or try to play any game the picture is really crappy. stnthmn
