Hi. I have an 8600gt that I just bought. Not too happy with it. In december I will have like 300-400 bucks. How much would an 8800GTS and GTX be at christmas time? How long would they last me on high settings at 1280x1024? Thanks :)

I would just stick with your 8600gt, it's a good card and will still be good to play on for a little while still. I would keep that money for buying some games.
Upgrading your video card with something from the same generation is generally not a good idea. You're just not going to see enough of a performance increase compared to how much money you have to spend.

lol trust me, I doubt that there are going to be many people who can play Crysis as it was meant to be played without any lag. I would say get the game, play on some lower sttings that give you the best performance, and save up that money for a little while longer for a bett video card that isn't from the same generation. The card you are thinking of buying won't givr you enough of a performance boost to justify the expenses (like the other guy said)
So just be patient, but the game and play on the settings that work best or your rig, and save that extra money along with making some more to get viideo card from another gen
you should ebay that 8600, oh and by christmas I think the 8800 320mb GTS should be at $250. december and january is ati/nvidia refresh so you should be able to pick up decently priced cards at that time.
Yeah, I am definetly going to wait for the 9 series. But how long do you guys think an 8800gts last me on high settings? And if I do get a 9 series card, my CPU will bottleneck it I think.
Chances are that even 8800 Ultra,2GB RAM and E6850 won't max out crysis @ 1920x1200,i'd wait and save up for a G90 or whatever NVIDIA's next card will be.

um you will be able to play the game with no lag just not on ultra high i don't see whats wrong with the card there's not a game out that will make you turn the graphics to LOWER than medium hows that not making you happy its a freaking $100 card and it will get medium or higher on games

I will wait for the demo to come out and see how it runs with my system. If I dont like it, I will be waiting for january and I will decide......
well the game isnt' out yet so i don't know 100% but it probaly won't which that doesn't really matter on most games going from high settings to ultra high isn't that big of a step

Still open for suggestions though.
