Oh yes, it did. When I first started up the game, on medium video settings the game ran horribly, my PC became sluggish and couldn't even run SupCom well x_X.

It's recommended requirements says...

3.0 GHz Intel Processor

1GB RAM

256MB Video Card ( nVidia 6800 or better )

Here what I have...

Intel Dual Core 2 2.13 GHz

2GB RAM

nVidia 256MB 7900GS

Yet it ran terribly, what's wrong?

That's why you...get C&C3! :D

Just kidding.

Sorry to respond to this and not know your answer, but I post to offer my condolences. Hope you get it fixed, try checking the forums on the Supreme Commander website or something. Good luck.

That should run it quite well... have you installed the most recent drivers? Applied any patches? Tried running the game after starting it up the first time?

from what i've read, it's a very cpu-intensive game - and you're way below the recommended

one thing though, when you're playing, are you connected to the internet? for single player, at least, disconnected from the net and then try, and see how it runs

i got remarkably poor framerates when playing singleplayer while connected to the internet - that's only ever happened to me with one game before (quake 3) and it took me a long time to realise that that might be the problem

worked for me, might work for you - but your cpu is below the rec spec, and if reports are correct, it's a very cpu intensive game, so that's reason b

How is it below the recommended queue? 3.0GHz, it is mentioning the SINGLE CPU not dual CPUs. I have a dual CPU, fyi. two 2.13 outperforms a 3.0ghz. GG.

You must not have installed the games patches or you have outdated graphics drivers.

Supreme Commander is one of those games that unfortunately is ahead of the hardware curve right now.  I'm sure a lot of people building a new rig a year from now might get a better idea of it, but for now you have to take it easy on the graphics.

unless it makes poor use of dual core cpus, like most games - in which case, you are comfortably below the rec spec again, even with superior horsepower on paper - epsecially a problem if the game is cpu intensive, as reported

i have a 4200+ and also experience poor performance, and i have very up-to-date drivers and patches - and my gpu alone should eat the game alive

and what's with the tone, boy? i was simply trying to help

Sorry, I'm just pretty annoyed with this issue. In this day and age, we shouldn't even have this problem . I will return this game to wal mart today and exchange it for CC3.

Supreme commander is a game that USES dual core PC's to their full potential. The game even utilizes quad core CPU's, so he is well above the recommended requirements in that area. It must either be that he hasn't installed the games patches or his drivers are outdated.

...or, of course, the recommended specs are FIBBING!

but i stand corrected! do try out that internet connection thing though, i know how absurd it sounds - but it did work for me

but i have a similar pc to the op (i have a worse gpu, less ram, better cpu) and get notably better performance based on his descriptions (at 1600x1200, too), but it seems like the rec specs were written for games with less than 4 armies - as soon as i play with perhaps 6 others, it starts to crawl a little way into the game - but i think it's something to do with game mechanics, not a performance issue (like the increasing delay between units being issued orders and completing them)

a lot of people are reporting similar performance issues - and it's not just that it's poorly optimised, and i doubt patches and drivers are his real problem (though they may help a fair bit), since far too many people are experiencing similar problems with way-above-par systems

I'd just like to point out for those who don't know.

A dual core processor does not have double the processor speed, it increases the efficency and allows the system to multitask more effectivly.

Maybe you need to update your drivers.  It runs perfectly for me on maxed settings.
