Anyone know what could be the cause of this issue? When I use my headphone jack that's on the front of my tower I get this super high pitch noise when I use the MOBO headphone jack I get nothing but the back of my Lian Li case is pretty big so it really isn't a convient place to plug in my headphones.

Must just be the port, I tried multiple headphones and it's the same high pitch noise. *sigh* guess I'll just buy a new tower in the future and for now just use the MOBO port.

Open the case, unplug the audio cable from the motherboard, and plug it back in. Make sure it is connected securely: You could be getting a bad ground. Loose wires account for a lot of system noise.

It may also be coming from the plug itself at the front of the case, in which case you would have to remove the front panel and I/O assembly. Typically those assemblies have everything hotglued, which makes it a larger DIY project, but the issue may still be correctable.

I'd try the first option and see if it helps.

Good luck,

Boz

Could also try a cheap sound card like the ASUS Xonar DG. Your mobo may not be properly grounding it or there's interference.
