I was looking at this game, ive played the original and i know im going to love it. I want to get it but i noticed that it comes in a bundle pack, but its a stand alone game?

I dont own the original, i did have it on my old computer but i lost the disk. Was just wondering why bother buying the bundle pack if its stand alone? Do you get something extra? Is it one of those things that if you only buy FA and dont have the original then you cant play the first races or something.

Im going to buy it, i just wanted to know if there are any drawbacks to not owning the original.

Thankyou.

Forged Alliance is a stand-alone expansion.

For online play, you will only be able to play as the new, fourth army if you just own FA, but you will have access to all four armies in singleplayer skirmish.

To play with the original three armies online, you would also need to buy the original SupCom.

No it's standalone :) you have all of Supreme Commander included in FA. The Gold edition is for somebody who doesn't have the original one and want both of them + the price is almost half of what it would be to buy them separately.

I have the Gold edition and there is absolutely nothing extra, only the games so if you lost the first disc and you still want to have it get the Gold one if not buy only FA, but the difference is a few $ so if you miss your Supreme Commander get it :).

What he said. Without the original, you will only be able to play as the new race online.

Weird, last time I played with Cybrans online I'm pretty sure I had only FA installed and not Supreme Commander too.

I'm not sure you need them installed (since all the content is actually in FA), you just need to register your SupCom CD key or something. While since I did it, but I'm pretty sure you don't actually need the original game installed.

Dawn of War/Dark Crusade was similar, but there were more complications with not having the original installed.

Yeah, the game only prompts you to enter your CD key for the other games when it detects that you have them installed.
