Depends what you're into mate, as they're two completely different games; even though they both involve strategy. If you like strategy to be quick and snappy with not much base building but tactical unit gameplay = DoW 2 If you like games that take a bit longer and that involve base building, resource hunting, and long term strategy = ~SupCom

well SupCom is more about the "BIG" picture, your resources, production line, units, tech, you need to know where your enemy is and what their doing *intelligence is key in SupCom*.

DoW2 is more Micro with really no focus on basebuilding just what order you make your units and how you use them in battle.

I perfer SupCom.

Supreme Commander. Dawn of War 2 was a terrible terrible sequel to a good RTS. It is a real shame that Relic decided it would be a good idea to dumb down the game so much.

I've only played the Sup Com demo, and it was boring to me. I just wanted to ask a question to others about Sup Com while there's a thread about it up: Did anyone else find that the large scale of the game made it feel like you were working with insect sized units. I think the large scale is supposed to make the units feel like giants on a huge battlefield, but they feel like insects on a small map to me...

I'm biased as DOW2 is my favourite game at the mo but it's great for quick, action packed, nerve biting battles that can be won or lost in the last minute. I gather SupCom involves more about managing your economy and lines of production and such like.

Exactly. Thats my main gripe with SupComm. To see everything you need to stay zoomed out quite a bit. Just didn't really let you get a good picture of the action which was just boring. Might as well just make the units small squares with nothing else.

Supreme Commander is a great game, but I like DoW 2 a lot more, it has a better atmosphere, superb soundtracks, great sp campaign it's brutal and it has lots of action and destruction :). Make sure you get Supreme Commander Gold next tho, because it too is great.

If you get Supreme Commander I recommended you get Supreme Commander:Forged Alliance as it is far superior to the old game.

If you have ADD (like most people) you won't like SupCom as it requires you to use your brain much more. DOW2 is a great game which is best played against other people on-line.

Pros and Cons about both games: Supreme Commander: Gigantic maps, No unit cap, Build your own resource and power points (rather than gathering it), the AI in the game can be very challenging (depending on the map and what type you choose to battle with or against), More missions in one level than most rts games can provide, and it's quite easy to learn (even without the built in tutorial videos, similar to Universe at War). The downside to this game is that if you can EASILY screw yourself up in resources and power management (you have to balance your economy), if you build buildings too close to each other they will blow up in chains if just one goes (Built ten power plants next to eachother? I blow up one, the rest are destroyed by the first), You MUST protect your supreme commander (imagine he is in the center of your massive army and he dies, well so does all of your units surrounding him! his explosion is strong enough to take out 600 units at once! And you can't get a new one), and if you and your enemy has tons of buildings and units all over the map - at least 300 each - then your game will go REALLY slow (Rush now or play a 6 hour skirmish). The game is fun and all, but only for a while in my opinion. Moderate gameplay, suggest you do a couple sandbox skirmishes to figure out your strategies, requires a good video card (8600 GT or better is what I recommend) and a fast computer (3.20 ghz CPU and at least 4 gbs of RAM). If you've played and liked Master of Orion, Sim City, Universe at War: Earth Assault, Homeworld, and Sins of a Solar Empire, then you'll like this game a lot. Dawn of War 2: (First up this is NOT an RTS game, it is more of an action RPG game) Character Customization after every mission, Awesome battles in every mission, Perfect music for both the area and the action, awesome lightings, blood and gore, and your squad commanders cannot truly die (they get knocked out til woken up by another squad). And you can play campaign coop (Haven't played coop but I can imagine it would be pretty fun). The only real downside is that you are ALWAYS outnumbered (but depending on your customization preferences and squads, you'll have little to worry about), It's kinda difficult to screw yourself in the game (unless you decide to gank every enemy squad in a mission at once or place your squads too far apart), and you'll a lot of times have replay a number of areas to defend or retake from massive armies & bosses. And you can only bring four squads into a single mission (So choose wisely before every mission). The game is pretty easy to figure out (but sadly the tutorials can't be disabled), has epic music & gameplay, awesome graphics, some pretty good voices ingame, great storyline, and if you love games that give you a rush with action, then you'll love this game! Practically the same system requirements as Supreme commander, but takes up less hard drive space, but is not as long as supcom. If you've played and liked Diablo 2, Hellgate London, Starcraft, Red Alert 3, and FEAR, then you'll love this game! I personally recommend that you play the demos for each game, I think you can find the demos at gamershell, but ya might find them on this site too. Check the Review videos for both games on this site , IGN, Gametrailers, and that you check some of the gameplay videos. I liked both games, both of them have pretty good music for gameplay, both have good storylines, but it mainly depends on what type of gaming you prefer and if you like fast games or slow games (Fast games like Devil May Cry and Killzone. Slow games like Empire Earth and Universe at War). Hope this helps with your choices.

Damn both are so good. I can't recommend one over the other. Glad I'm of no help. You can always get one and then later get the other.

Dawn of war 2 is awesome incarnate.

But its a online multiplayer game, the campaign does NOT represent why this game was made. Some said its not an RTS, no, it is one of the best RTS out there, the campaign is not and RTS. The other 90% is a fine tuned RTS with really awesome support and community.

Too bad i suck compared to the online community. I can roll stomp the computer on expert and then get my butt handed to me online 100% of the time...

Someday i will go against another rank 1, or see one...

You can't really pick on DoW2 for being a bad RTS, it's a strategic game in real time. No it's not a traditional RTS game (build base mass troops = profit) but I feel what they've done is lay the groundwork for more complex traditional RTS games to follow. They're getting people more accustomed to focusing on the units, selecting different ones for their strengths and paying close attention to where and when they should be used. So many people don't bother learning how to micro in RTS games and end up being terrible, just turtling, massing tanks and roflstomping the board after 2 hours, they don't bother learning because they don't have to to be successful. I applaud DoW2 for making the genre something more than it is.

@Meejoe27 I hear you I had the same thing happen to me. I would dominate the computer on the hardest setting 500-0, it got boring so I went online and lost 10 in a row being shut out like the computer did vs me. I did the same thing with CoH a similar game and I was beating the comp ever time on highest difficulty but when I went online I was able to win atleast half my games and got to play some competative matches. WTF happend between CoH and DOW 2?
