What kinda RTS is this? And is it worth 5$ on direct2drive?

Its worth $5. be warned though, the game is HUGE with a lot of micro-managing, and if you are new to RTSs you will get overwhelmed.
It is a massive RTS with multiple units and tremendous amount of strategies. But when you reach end-game, the fun is sorta gone when you build a Mavor or Yolona Oss or a Paragon. That is of course, if you can survive for that long. k0r3aN_pR1d3
Multiple units? No.... :o

yes :o no more one unit spam :oBasically what the first two posts said. The game pretty much requires a fast CPU and Internet connection (for multiplayer) or else the game starts bogging down when thousands of units are on the field. There's a sequel which was announced recently, but it looks like they might dial down the scale a bit. The first SupCom was definitely a little ahead of its time.Einhanderkilleris a Pentium Dual-Core E5200 @2.50GHZ enough?

recommended specs provide optimal experience for single player and up to 4 players on medium map size.
I would guess your CPU would run it but most likely with most settings turned down playing 1v1 (maybe 2v2) on smaller maps (5km). Once you start adding more players on the larger maps (10km, 20km, 40km, 81km) and the number of units on screen (max per player is anywhere from 250 to 1000 per player, avg max unit setting per player used in most games is 500) things really start to slow down unless one is running a very fast duel core or Quad cpu. Also the game will run only as fast on-line as the slowest system in that particular game. Many players that host custom matches will insist on a player wanting to join to have a fast CPU, if they don't it will cause that on-line game to lag. This is a demanding game in more ways than one and really requires a good system for it to run well.
With all that said...I think SupCom is one of the all time best RTS games ever made and a blast to play.
