hello brothers and sisters, I have this system: http://store.sony.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10551&storeId=10151&langId=-1&productId=8198552921666548192 my PC specs: asus rampage IV Extreme 2x 7970 XFX Core Edition ( please let me know if you want more specs ) the problem is that I dont know how to connect them together. please tell me what I need and how I need to connect them. any help is appreciated. thanks a lot my friends.

This is a very vague explanation. But here's what I understood. You want to hook up your pc with your home-theater system, correct? Well, here's the way I'd do it: Connect your PC through HDMI, say to HDMI port 1 in the TV. Now you have both video and audio on the TV On the back of your tv you have an optical audio out. You buy an optical audio cable (no more than $5.00), hook that from the TV to the home-theater system. From the tv select menu, audio, select external speakers, optical audio out. That should do the trick.

Or a 2 rca to 3.5mm cable to your speaker output(green one) like this

hello my brother, thank you very much for your respons, but the problem is that I dont have a tv, I use my moniter ( 23 inch HP ) it has an HDMI and a DVI Slots on the back.

I have no idea what kind of cable is the firstone, but for the second option, will I lose the surround sound? I mean I want to hear gun shots from bihend when they shoot from bihend, I dont want to just have a speaker. thank you very much my brother.

Even easier then. Buy an optical cable. On the back of the case, where all the audio jacks are, next to the orange and black there's a square-shaped jack. That's the optical audio. Hook that from the PC to the Home-Theater system. Then Control Panel, audio, select optical out. You're set.

Run an optical cable from the port on your motherboard to the port on your sound system. Then select the correct input on your sound system.

You can't use optical because you will not get HD surround game audio that way, or DTS Master or Dolby TrueHD, for that matter, if you have Blu-ray player in your rig. For the same reason, you can't use an optical return from a TV. Use an HDMI cable from the HDMI out on your card to the HDMI input on the Sony, and run HDMI from the Sony to the monitor.

It is a fact that HDMI carries HD audio, but to tell you the truth, I've never done it. It should work, but it might not because the Sony might be looking for a TV signal and won't know what to do with PC video. Try it and let us know.

You should have gotten stereo through the optical cable. Something is wrong if you didn't.

I did not get any sound at all when I connected them through the optical cable, and when I tried the HDMI one, I did not get any sound and my monitor could not read the 1080P resolution( Did not fill the screen ) so I took the home theater back because when i looked at the compatibility there was no PC, can you guys please tell me a surround sound system that's easy to set up with my computer? ( I just need it to be very good at bass and sound quality and volume )and most importantly, surround sound. again thanks very much for the help.

All this is insanely complicated. It's next to impossible to do over a forum. You should get somebody in who knows what they're doing. As I said, you should have gotten stereo through optical. The fact that you did not says to me that you did not read all the manuals, and you did something wrong. You will not be able to hook up your new system, either, in that case.
