Swapping Ram...

Ok, right now I have 4 1G sticks of DDR2 ram. What I want to do is buy 2 4G sticks of DDR3 ram. Does DDR3 ram use a different port then DDR2? Can I just swap out the old and in with the new?

Although it is the exact same fitting as DDR2 memory DIMMS as the other guys have said you need a DDR3 compatible motherboard and you simpily cannot switch them over.

Assuming your system is outdated, you're not going to gain any noticeable performance by switching from DDR2 to DDR3.

The gains of DDR3 will be completely bottlenecked unless your CPU, Mobo and such can match it.

Do you think it would be worth it to upgrade and get 8G of DDR2 ram? my computer's specs right now are:

Operating System: Vista Home Premium 64-bit SP2

CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 2.40GHz

RAM: 4.0GB DDR2 @ 399MHz

Motherboard: PEGATRON CORPORATION Benicia

Graphics: 1024MB GeForce GTS 250
