Swapping Video Cards, PLEASE HELP

Hey guys,

My video card recently crapped out on me.. so I have a new video card now. I am having a problem tho.. I cannot get the pc to display anything, I am thinking it is because the old drivers are causing an issue with the new card. Problem is I cannot start the pc to remove the old drivers, is there something I can do to fix this?

I cannot see anything period. My old card was a geforce 6800, and the new one is a geforce 8600 GTS

how would I see anything on the monitor?

Your monitor does have a VGA connection right? I think your motherboard should have one too. Try connecting them.

my motherboard does not have a VGA connection on it. Im using the ASUS P5Q Pro mobo

If its not too much trouble, Try getting a new motherboard with video...I was thinking it may be your monitor, card, or motherboard. This way you'll have one taken care of and if not allowing you to use your new card, you'll atleast have video.

i do not have any other mobos? and I am not buying one as I cannot afford it

maybe the PSU isn't strong enough? maybe the mobo shorted out?

Are you getting any beeps when you turn the pc on??

I dont think its my PSU since its a 700w Corsair, so it has to be my mobo... ill have to check and see if it beeps and continues to post.

A friend of mine had the same problem a while back. Computer was turned off one day, and the screen just wouldn't come back on. We thought it was the GPU. We tested a different graphics card to no avail. I took all the ram out and we didn't get any nasty beeps, so I figured it had to be the motherboard. We ended up replacing the mobo, turned out that was the problem, not the GPU.
