Sword Of The Stars II: Lord Of Winter

Can I get some impressions on this game from those that have it or have tried it?
How does it compare to say Galactic Civilization 2?what about Sins Of A Solar?

It seems like a bit of a steep price when there is cheaper options out there such as the underrated SPAZ, Galactic Civ 2 and Sins Of a?

Not a great sign...BUT, I'm interested as well and would love to get the opinion of someone who's playing the game.

This game is absolute ass, do not buy it. The new build they put up was somehow even worse than the first one (the option screen doesn't work!). If you get this now you are effectively buying into an alpha version.

The game's cool. They just need some patches to get it to its intended quality, so you should probably wait a little.

Also, it's a Paradox game, and you know how they are with new releases.

That would be worse. While not easy, a little bit of digging around will be able to show you what the version number is. Most developers use a version number of 1.0.xxxxx as the release. Anything below that is almost always designated a pre-release version. If someone found out and the developers didnt say anything at all, it'll be an even bigger PR backlash.

Also, its extremely easy to upload an incorrect version, especially when they likely have multiple versions (physical, digital, and possibly different regions of each) to just simply pick the wrong one. You're just clicking an item from the list and pressing a button... thats it.

It still doesn't excuse them though.

Go to youtube and look up the Angry Joe Show. He had a lot of hope for this game and right now they seemed to have pulled a Dead Island on it. The first one I have been running through and its a pretty fun game. A lot more fun than the old Homeworld game that i used to play religously. The first one is also $5 dollars on Steam right now. Pick that one up and enjoy while they work this mess out.

At the moment , I can say I am a disappointed. The UI feels a bit clunky, I haven't yet looked deeply but the map don't seem changeable, I can't even click on "option".

I would not recommend SOFS 2 lord of winter until at least a few patch or half a price.

This game will not even run for me - goes throught the Steam start dialog boxes and then just quits out without even getting to a splash screen. Grrrrr.

Or get Sins 2 in a couple of weeks. Or wait for Endless SPace to come out this Summer.
