SWTOR - Revan is back !!!

Obsidian already had it planned out and it probably would have been great. Now I guess he will be a raid boss or some lame shit.

I never did like the first KOTOR that much tbh. It was basically like Planescape Torment with a much less sophicated story. Part of the praise can probably be attributed to console reviewers who never actually experienced a CRPG.

I think you're the first person I've seen say they didn't like KOTOR.

I'm not saying it's bad. It's just basically the same idea as Planescape Torment of "finding yourself" except it's kinda more like a one trick plot twist than actually exploring it as Planescape Torment does (extensively).

KOTOR 2 is also sort of similar to Planescape Torment actually. But it not really a one trick pony.

Some people hate it for that I think, because it doesn't have some contrived and obvious twist at the end. A much better game imo.

Bored of MMO's. Give me an awesome story driven SP game any day.

Ahh I see.

I've always seen Torment as a much more deep RPG. What the KOTOR series (and SWTOR as well imo) does best is characters and personal story. And correct me if I'm wrong, but was KOTOR the first Star Wars RPG? I had been waiting for years for someone to make an RPG set in that universe and Bioware delivered with KOTOR (Obsidian did as well with KOTOR2 cause I liked it).

I'd probably classify Dark Forces 2 as an FPS/RPG.

Yes, that would of been great, but I think this is an update (raid maybe?), not a full blown expansion.

Even Blizzard with their unlimited funds only do CGI on new expansions.... they do in-game cinematics with updates as well.

Between the terrible execution of the d20 system, the non existant encounter design, uninspired quests, made for console controls and lack of balance, the gameplay is crap.
Between the one-two dimensional characters, half assed romances, predictable plot twist anyone who was paying attention could see from a mile away, the story was garbage too. Would only recommend to star wars fans. Kotor 2's story was so much better.

Well, we know that you have a "specific" taste in storytelling and character development.

KOTOR is praised everywhere, with good reviews and ratings from both professional and players. It's far from "shit".

I consider both KOTOR1 and KOTOR2 really good.

Reven is an instance boss that you kill if you play Empire.

Yeah I remember doing the instance (you can also save him I believe).

Maybe that wasn't the real Revan?

I remember him talking about Darth Malek and saying how their deaths felt similar. Unless that was a clone or something in the teaser, that would be stupid.

Actually that's a good idea. Make it that the one you met in the instance was a clone to set everyone off, and this is the REAL Reven....

It's not a mess. It had a rough launch but now it has so much content that it's one of the best MMOs on the market (3rd most money maker after WoW).

As for housing, EVERYONE was asking for it (same as Space Battles), so BioWare delivered what the community wanted. Housing is pretty neat actually (not as good as Wildstar though)

I thought Revan died, I wonder what they will use to justify his return.

1. Yes, when I can predict the big plot twist only a few hours into the game, and I find the characters far too 1-2 dimensional for my liking, I tend not to like the story.

2. That depends on where you go, on some internet communities, people call it a consolized, dumbed down piece of crap.

I remember Revan too as prisoner were you can free him after doing a flashpoint. I think it was around 35 level at Maelstrom Prison, but I am not 100% sure. I played as Republic not as Empire.

Housing was not an expansion but just an addition to the game that a lot of people wanted and are really happy with. I personally don't care about it at all but to each his own. The actual expansion is supposed to be sometime this year.

As for it being a mess, I don't think it is at all. I'm subscribed to it at the moment because I really enjoy the game. And yes people play it....it's the 4th most profitable mmo on the market at the moment bringing in over $100 million a year. So someone is playing it....

Is this explained in the MMO? It was explained KOTOR 3 was suppose to be you KOTOR 2 char going out into distant space to help Revan against what Kreia terms as the "real" Sith.

It's not really much deeper if at all tbh (in regards to gameplay). It's VERY heavy on story and talking, though.

In the MMO you either save Reven or kill him depending if you're Republic or Empire (correct me if I'm wrong on that one, but I killed him as Empire).

BUT.... maybe he was a clone? maybe he isn't really dead. Very interested to see how they bring him back.

kotor 2 is actually my all time favorite game.

but damn thats a big claim that reviewers havent played a crpg....didnt greg k review kotor 1 for gs?
