So I've heard good and bad about SWTOR. I enjoy playing MMOs and I want a new experience so I was wondering if SWTOR goes places other MMOs haven't gone before , Does SWTOR offer that experience? I just need some opinions from gamers who have played this game enough that they can tell me. And is the $15 monthly subscription worth it?

If you want a new experience wait for GW2. If you want to play SWTOR because you are a star wars fan but don't mind more of the same old thing than pick up SWTOR

SWTOR is my first MMO. I really like it. However, from what I've heard, if you are expecting this game to revolutionary, you'll probably be disappointed. If you're looking for a refinement of past MMOs combined with great story, this is for you, in my opinion. The only thing you can consider groundbreaking in this game is the story and dialog (which is perfect for me)

From what I've been hearing it's a WoW clone with extremely linear world, broken PvP and a crappy engine. I haven't played it, so I can't confirm all that, and I am biased against it because I despise theme-park MMOs, but the internet has been bustling with negativity towards SWTOR for months. Everywhere you go, you see people talking about how bad it is, and how it's going F2P soon.

I would suggest steering clear, Guild Wars 2 seems the go-to game for the theme-park MMO fans, Tera tries to please both theme-park and sandbox players, and Archeage is the only true sandbox MMO on the horizon, though I doubt we could see that in the west in 2012.

Imagine WoW meets KOToR. That is what SWToR is!!! It is a MMO with an actual story to follow!! All of the classes are fun to play and the gameplay while very standard MMO stuff is still very enjoyable!!

You'll never know if YOU like it unless you try it. You do get 30 days free with the purchase.

It needs a few fixes and tweaks (like EVERY MMO at launch), but people say it's fun and will be even better when fixed. Sorry, I can't personally say since I have mostly concentrated on PvE.

You can say what you want overall but saying "WOW clone" is ridiculous and incredibly stupid. OT: I don't have experience from level 50 yet. I have 3 characters, level 25, 24 and 32. PvP is okay, huttball is pretty fun. I don't like the flashpoints (dungeons) that much though. Questing is where this game does it best. My free month is ending any day now, and I will purchase a month more before probably laying it to rest. I don't like Star Wars, never seen a movie, but I can still enjoy the game.

So I've leveled a bounty hunter to 50 and have mostly all champion pvp gear and am still in the process of leveling another character. I can tell you that the leveling process is the best part of the game but I will be cancelling my subscription after this month is up because the pvp is nothing special.

I log on to my bounty hunter once a day and do the pvp dailies and then when you're finished with those there really isn't anything left to do(i'm in a guild that does biweekly raids but i'm not really a raiding guy).

After I finish my dailies I log into my alt and level him an hour or so, however once I hit 50 and finish that story I think I'm done because I don't really want to go through the process of collecting pvp gear again, the level 50 pvp world in the game is incredibly broken(won't go into detail, I'm sure you can read about this somewhere) and it's a pain to even be there and if you're an empire player(at least this is true on my server) you will be lucky to get a warzone other than hutt ball.

I hope this was helpful. :)

The pvp is the worst I have ever seen in an MMO, period. The game plays like KOTOR with the option to group. The game was too expensive for the short time it kept me interested personally.

If you've played WoW and enjoyed it, you'll enjoy this. Think of it as WoW except you play as an actual *character*.

The PVP grind is by far worse than WoW's. Its completely based on luck as you have to open bags for 1-3 badges and a 10% chance to obtain a item token right there. Most items cost around 24-39 badges with weapons costing 72. So if your extremely unlucky its a grind that could take a very LONG time.

Other than that the PVP stat is Expertise which is a lot more potent then resilience in WoW for example. Its great if your geared up but when you have no Expertise its horrible as your pretty much completely ignorable in PVP because you cant DPS them down and your heals are weaker. Also get blown up in seconds by people with Expertise

Despite these flaws I am still playing PVP and grinding in out in hopes that one day ill be the one doing the crushing. Its just pretty depressing now lol.

I just picked it up last week and am enjoying it, playing with a few friends. I am only level 21, but so far it feels a bit more like a bunch of single player games tacked together rather than a traditional MMO. That's not an indictment, just an observation, since my friends and I are loving it so far. If you like making a lot of alts in MMO's, you will have a good time in this game. Each different class has their own far reaching questline that is really quite good. If you like games like Mass Effect, KOTOR, etc., I think you will enjoy the character development / levelling experience. I haven't seen end game yet, so can't speak intelligently on that. I hear there are only a couple operations (8-16 man raids) so far, so end game is probably not as well developed yet.

Starting a new MMO is like moving to a new place. It's fun and exciting, it has pros and cons, and after a while you start getting a little homesick, wondering what your old friends are up to back home in Azeroth. Oh how I miss those /silly jokes. Bottom line: If you like Star Wars, try it. If you like questing and leveling, try it. If you're sick of WoW or whatever MMO you've been playing, try it. If none of the above are true, then I think you should pass.

It's really hard to get groups for those on most servers. There's still too many players leveling (not at level cap). PvE doesn't have a queue like PvP does.

I have it and for a theme park MMO it is decent (never have played WoW) so I can't comment on how that compares but to be honest I haven't touched it in a few weeks. If you want to play it I'd so go for it and use the free 30 days then cancel if you don't like it. I come from 8 years of Galaxies so even this being a Star Wars MMO it just feels like something is lacking but I don't know exactly what. Obviously I don't want this to be Galaxies 2 as well but I personally think the game is having an identity crisis.

Very grindy at level 50, peformance is poor, PVP is unbalanced, quests are all the same. Only thing good is the story, thats honestly about it at this time, its fun levelling to 50 but once I got their I unsubbed. The game also has no LFG tool and you end up asking in the fleet trade chat for hours trying to find a group.

I'm not a huge fan of MMORPGs, that said I enjoy TOR. It plays like a single player rpg if you want to play it that way but you can also play it as a multiplayer rpg. It also has a decent story and a fleshed out world. Most other MMORPGs I've played, including WoW are all just about grinding, TOR feels more like a story driven rpg to me. Also a lot of the criticism seems to come from Star Wars fanboys who complain about things being out of canon, it's a game and supposed to be fun not a exact recreation of whatever George Lucas has in his head. It's the first online game I've played that I feel like is worth paying for to sum it up.

Like someone said, if you like theme-park MMO and also a fan of Sci-fi, then this game is for you. If there is a time I'm getting SWTOR, it will definitely be to play the story since its from Bioware. I'm liking the idea that they will consistently add new content (all voice acting for upcoming content all the way to NEXT YEAR have been done!!) and I like to see how they expand the storyline. They say PVP is broken...lol so what? All MMOs I've ever played went thru periods of idiotic and broken PVP but they will get worked upon.
