Help Gamespot Brothers:

The clips won't play when I start the game up and when I hit new game, select difficulty and start, the game goes straight to desktop. What should I do?

I think the videos not working and the game not working are two separate problems.

To get the videos working, download iv5play.exe - you can find it on google. It's a video codec which XP stopped supporting after SP2. You need to run the exe every time you restart windows, if you want the videos to work properly. This also works with Thief.

As for the game not running properly - did you extract the game files into a totally new folder, or into a folder with files in it already - files related to the SS2 stuff? (the C## files)

I tired the downloaded version of SS2 and found that, for whatever reason, extracting te game into the folder with the C## files just made it black screen at loading. Either delete all of those files, or install the actual game into its own folder.

If this doesn't help, I'm not sure. Try running the game in different compatability modes to see what happens.

The game would still load properly if he was, then freeze. So that's another issue entirely, one which he is yet to encounter.

thats what you get for downloading it instead of buying it. Check wikipedia and then go on the www.ttlg.com, there is a thread there explaining every problem you can encounter and a fix.
