my dad wants my PC i told him ill give him all the parts of this PC but he will buy me the newr parts for me. the thing is i have vista and i know vista is M$ goodie goodie and it wont run unless the hard drive is with the motherboard its tied to. i know this will sound stupid but i could take the motherboard out witht he hard drive and put it on the new case right?

also i have a OEM version of Vista and i want to get a bigger hard drive is there a way for me to get vista installed on that new hard drive or do i need to get a whole new OS vista for that hard drive?

The OEM can only be installed on one computer. The version itself is tied to the Motherboard so if you upgrade the motherboard you would need a new version of Windows.

How does the retail version of Windows 7 work? I'm guessing it works the same as Vista?
