I'm finally going to pick up the Orange Box for PC later today, mostly so I can play HL2 with the Cinematic Mods. I used to have it for PS3, and I just plain did not like Team Fortress 2. I can't really put my finger on what it is that I disliked, though. But, anyways, my question is, are there any real differences between the PS3 and PC versions?

The best version of TF2 you can get on PC. Tons of free custom maps, additional gameplay modes and of course...hats :P

lol, Team Fortress 2 on the PS3.. Steam games should be played first and foremost on the PC. TF2 is not only visually superior but it just feels more natural playing with a mouse and keyboard rather than a controller. I also think the community is immensely better on PC than it is on either console.

Yeah, I know that Source games tend to be far superior on PC. I just didn't have a PC capable of running the games the Orange Box back then :P But even with them being better on PC, theres always the chance that the issues may have originated on the PC. I'm glad to hear you guys say that the PC version is better, because I really could use a new MP FPS. Thanks for the answers, guys.

It's virtually a completely different game.

-About 30 new weapons, -many new maps, -limitless supply of custom maps, skins, mods -custom games -hats ( I did not like this feature) -balance support. -new features (such as replay to youtube which was added a few days ago for free) -mouse and keyboard (scout would be impossible with a troller) -source sdk -expect the game to continue getting free updates

All FPS console games suck. I don't know about the XBOX, but the controls on the Playstation weren't a patch on the old mouse and keyboard.

So are spies really good on the console version? I mean it seems like they would be so much better because you turn so slowly on consoles.

TF2, for all intents and purposes, does not exist on consoles.

I for some reason cannot seem to play half as well on the console as I do on the PC, therefore I love the PC version :P Though that may or may not have something to do with the fact that I use a Track Ball.

I don't even know the last time TF2 was patched on consoles.

On PC there's loads more maps as well as custom comunity made maps. There's many more weapons, trading of items, crafting of items, hats, badges, gameplay modes, more players per server, community events and more server/game variables to change up gameplay.

The community isn't any better on PC. 99% of people with mics shouldn't have them because they are being abused way too much. I have to mute nearly everyone in nearly every match I ever play on numerous servers. Sometimes muting isn't enough so they resort to the text box dialog for spamming ignorance. It's a real shame that the online gaming communtiy as a whole is not capable of holding themselves to a higher standard of individuals. The first development team that incorporates incentives for not abusing mic privileges will be held to the highest regard.

That said, there are definately a few people I've met on TF2 that are extremely enjoyable mates to game with, But for every decent cool person, you have to sift through about 50 horrible people.

You mean hat fortress 2? Seriously though, I'd say it took the best multiplayer fps game crown from cs.

I've been playing it for about an hour now. I seriously suck at this game. I like it, but I suck at it. I was trying all of the classes, and my favorite so far is the Spy. But whenever I'm cloaked or disguised, it seems like the enemy team is always finding me out before I can do anything to them. I think my highest K/D in a game so far is like 3 and 12.

Despite the ludicrous hat updates, the game still has tons of players and is as fun as ever. Arguably one of the most cherished multiplayer shooters on the PC to date.

It depends entirely on what server you join. If you're going into fast respawn servers, then you're probably going to find a lot of annoying people. If you join regular servers, there's a lot more cool people on them.

And TC, it takes a while. Scout is very dependant on aim, so if you're good at fps games you could be him. For soldier, aim for the enemies feet to pop them in the air. Demoman, use mostly stickies. Only use pipes if the enemies are close. You could try being medic, just uber a demoman most of the time. Heavy is pretty easy, you just gotta watch out for spies and snipers. For pyro, you have to try and reflect rockets and such back at the enemy. Sniper's pretty easy to understand, and for spy knowing the maps is very important. Engineer can be pretty fun if you be offensive with the wrangler. Otherwise, just build stuff around where other engineers build stuff and watch out for spies. If there's more than just you on engineer, help each other out. One level three sentry is way better than two level one sentries.

That's a bit of a stretch there mate. It is my favorite game this gen but CS is a classic and still the most played multiplayer game in the planet.

Same as the console version with more content and what I consider to be better controls.

the console version really has got nothing on the pc version of the game. higher player counts/bigger community, more maps, constant updates, i could go on and on. but you will see soon enough for yourself.

I don't understand why people say hats ruin Tf2. They don't really do anything, don't like them, don't use them.

Not using hats doesn't stop other users from using them, or painting them horribly ugly garish out of place colours, or Valve from adding hats by the truck load everytime another game is released on Steam, and focusing update after update on new hats instead of meaningful content.
