VS.

TF2 and L4D are among the most popular first-person shooters on this forum. I'm just curious as to whether you guys prefer one game over another. Cast your votes and post your reasons for making your selection.

Also, keep in mind you're not necessarily voting for the "best" game, just the one you like more.

You can't really compare them, since both are a different type of game and each game is best in its category, but if I'd have to say one, then TF 2 :).

But I'll vote them as equal.

I know I'm comparing apples to oranges here. Still though, the two games have a lot in common and tend to appeal to the same group of players. I'm just curious if there's any kind of favoring one way or the other on this forum.

I like Team Fortress 2 better. The game is much more competitive (when you wish for it to be) compared to Left4Dead, supports many more players (No AI support) and is generally, a much more graphically appealing game to look at. Left4Dead is no slouch though : it's terrific twitch-coop-shooter that caters to the same populace who enjoy TF2. Just replace goofy industrial mercenaries of opposing company factions with survivors trapped within a doomsday-esque zombie outbreak.

I wonder if L4D has finished downloading yet on my PC. And I wonder how much time is left on the free trial. I may not get a chance to sample it.... I wish I had pre-loaded it a day earlier.. I started DL'ing last night about 7 central. And this morning it was only at about 40%....

Why didn't you get The Orange Box last weekend for $10? You missed out on a fantastic deal.

TF2 is better as far as value for dollar goes, IMO. I like Left 4 Dead, but if I was stuck with either one on an island I'd go with TF2.

I'd say TF2, but for some reason its glichy (like when I want to change servers it crashes). But for gameplay its much better. L4D gets a bit repetitive after a while even though the zombies do change places.

I seriously doubt it wasn't. Not having a deal for certain 3rd party games is one thing but not having the deal from Valve forwarded by Valve is unheard of.

You probably missed it.

I find it very interesting that there are many more Left4Dead players than TeamFortress 2. A lot of this has to do with the current sale and free-trial for the game, but Left4Dead generally has around 20,000+ players while as TF2 is more like 15,000-18,000. Judging from the votes so far though, it seems like this forum generally prefers TF2.

I enjoy TF2 because it just doesn't get old and you can play it for hours without getting bored. I also love it because I always play mindgames as spy. "What? A Heavy behind our lines! Must be a teleporter!" 5 seconds later *KNIFE* "BLEH!" "You got blood on my suit, you ***"

Final bump for more votes. Results are interesting so far, I wasn't expecting TF2 to have such a lead.

Both of them didn't really hold my attention for too long. I guess TF2 because of the SDK, that hasn't been released yet for L4D :P.

I like them both, but I haven't really felt like playing TF2 for some time. Not really sure why. I play L4D all the time, though.

Normally I would say TF2. But I tried Survival Mode on L4D , which was absolutely gaming bliss where I cried of laughter.

Shoulda made a blank vote, or people will just vote for whichever game they own if they don't have both. I would assume TF2 has the most votes because more people have that who don't have L4D cause it's been out longer. The last option wasn't really worded properly to incorporate these kinds of votes

I got bored of Left 4 Dead and started playing some TF2 for awhile, but when the update came out i wanted to try out the new survival mode and really was happy that they put the other 2 campaigns on multiplayer. Now I've been playing it alot lately, but i would have to say they are both awesome games and i dont think i can choose

I enjoy both games almost exactly the same.

Team Fortress2 and Left4Dead both are MUST own games imo. Team Fortress2 = 10/10 and Left4Dead = 9.7/10 i guess? :P

Im just a sucker for online games that require teamwork, i love working as a tema and helping teammates (:

It has almost 5 times the amount of players TF 2 has, but anyway 11K players are enough for TF 2 :P.

I play a lot more L4D lately, despite the new TF2 updates. something about versus mode makes it really fun. I think i've played the No Mercy versus mode to death and I still feel like playing more.

I play tf2 almost everyday, while I play L4D about once a month. With L4D, I usually only play the campaign mode. I much prefer TF2 over the VS mode in L4D.

There were a couple games on the original Xbox called Hunter: the Reckoning and its sequel which I loved. That was in 2002? That was the last 4 player zombie coop game that I played before L4D. Its great that Valve ressurected 4 player coop. For that, I'm happy, but nothing beats the competitive play of TF2.

TF2 you just keep on playing. L4D is boring after hours of playing and makes you wish there is a refund button in Steam.
