Hey guys
Is TERA: Rising worth the download? Here is the trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P8088S_mpgk

Absolutely, the combat is very good. It's the only combat in a mmorpg that I like, since you have to aim(somewhat). No tab locking on garbage. Makes for fun pvp, I recommend playing on the open world pvp servers, and once you reach level 30 try the matchmaking pvp.
It also has crazy good graphics for a mmo, you can even put sweetfx on(it doesn't hurt fps, this game is all cpu)
Some pics i took with enb(middle click them to open)
i love this game. i been playing since it first launched... in a month or two they are releasing a new class called Reaper only Elin race, which looks at first glance as a semi ranged berserker type class but its hard to know till i play it.
I havent played a lot lately though cause my internets very bad, but whenever its good I try to log in for a bit. its a sweet free game, u never have any need to pay anything, you could easily just play for free.
the combat in this game is better then any mmo, and better then any other single player game i've played. your able to knock out enemies and block attacks instantly. I remember played Dark Souls recently and wishing that it had fast response in controls that TERA had, but its far less fluid as TERA controls... only thing that can cause problems is if your internet lags.
my favourite class has been Berserker. Slayer, Sorcerer and Lancer are pretty decent also. I have a 60 archer also but I never got into it.
And jiggly is right, ENB works good in tera.... I personally use SweetFX cause its much better since it has very good antialiasing abilities mixed with tons of color and other options.
Always wanted to try TERA but lots of people say it's excessive on the grind and repetitive quests part. That's what puts me off MMOs these days.

Pretty much is after the initial fun wears off. The combat is fun but it gets as repetitive as the questing does, same old quests over and over just new zones and different skins. The BAMS (big ass monsters) are a cool and unique thing but even they get old. Basically just learn the tells and dodge or block when the time comes....attack in between. I could see where the pvp could be good with this combat, but I didn't bother with it.
I will say the tanking in this game is the most unique of any MMO I have played, it does actually take some skill to do properly...esp with a warrior.
Honestly though I would not discourage anyone from trying it, I got several hours of enjoyment out of it. Just not an MMO many will play religiously. Then again I don't think those MMO's exist anymore, sadly.
It's not that they don't exist, it's just that gamers have changed from 15 years back. These days there are so many choices in MMOs that gamers rush to maximum level and then move onto the next MMO released.
Back in the golden days of WoW and Everquest, there were only a handful of MMOs so people dedicated more time to them and enjoyed them more.
just play pvp to level up
i never do side quests, just the main quests and then the 20v20 corsair stronghold to level up
it's quite funny sometimes...

It was a lot of fun. I played it for a few years on and off. The combat is really well done and is the selling point of the game. The problem was the story (very poor) and the quests were very boring. It was literally go to this town, this sub town, kill these enemies (essentially the same attacks with different skins), and turn in. Do a dungeon. Repeat. This was ultimately what turned me off from playing long term. But it's worth it to pick it up and try it out for the combat, it's very refreshing from your traditional MMO.

I 50% disagree bro, yes gamers have changed but they changed the MMOs to cater to that. The games back in the day were set up to keep you long term and made you focus on the journey rather than the destination. A game like EQ made you invest in it, not talking money investment here....it would take longer to get to level 20 in that game than it does max level in some games these days lol. It also was designed to create community through interdependence; we all know you can get through a modern MMO solo all the way to the end these days. I am not saying it was perfect, they just don't design them to last anymore.

Yeah true that. It amazes me these days when an MMO launches and less than a week after people are at max level. It shouldn't be just about end-game. That's why GW2 is one of my favourites, it does a good job on the journey to max level. (same as SWTOR with the class story)
