If it aint broke dont fix it. MMOs have been build around hotkeys forever now. It works. Like complaining about a fighting game having combos.http://imgur.com/a/fO9Ty#0

Meh, if there's one company I'd least expect to break the mold and push some boundaries, it's Bethesda. It's going to fall into the same trap ToR fell into. MadCat46What the 1mil sub and making a ton of money trap?

FPSfan1985What the 1mil sub and making a ton of money trap? Not quite, no. The notion that relying on license and copying the EQ formula automatically guarantees long term success in this day and age. ToR while certainly doing well if we take EA at it's word did fall well short of what many market analysts were predicting it would do and it's overall reception has been rather lukewarm. The Elder Scrolls doesn't have the pull to carry it's weight as Star Wars does nor the marketing power of EA.

Instanced dungeons also confirmed. Also, most of the stuff GW2 is doing are also confirmed. Btw, it's using the same crappy engine SWTOR is using. Such a pity, this could be awsome, but it'll turn out to be just another crappy theme-park...
Damnit, just imagine the possiblities if they made it a sandbox...guilds taking over towns, running the taxes on the shops, guild leader is the 'count', other guilds can besiege them, fights over Aeylid ruins and the secrets that they hide....
But no, instead, we get sit in town all day, run instance after instance, so you can get better gear, and that better gear will help you being good in the next instance....
....
And I was so excited too.
As someone who isn't a big MMO guy, I don't care for this, and hopefully if a Fallou MMO every happens it can turn out great.
Wasn't expecting much either. Thank god for that sandbox vampire mmorpg that is being developed. Now that sounds like a proper mmorpg.
Wow...this killed all my excitement for the game.
Instead of making a cool and unique MMO they are making a casual "WoW" clone set in the Elder Scrolls universe. I usually don't say this but I truly do hope this game fails. I don't mean that maliciously, I just don't like the trend of developers taking beloved SP series and cutting out everything that makes them unique in order to make them an MMO.
The SP Elder Scrolls games sell like wildfire why would you want to make them into a tab target generic MMO!?!?
Because people enjoy them. Shame on that dev for catering to anyone that doesn't share identical gaming tastes as you.... Get over yourself.Wow...this killed all my excitement for the game.

I think you're missing the point.. Reason people loved the elder scroll games is because of exactly that.. they were elder scroll games.. they had their own unique feel to them and sense of exploration. By making this MMO 3rd person hotkey, it is not derivative of the elder scroll games, merely the same ol 'mmo formula. Also, ToR was NOT a money trap hahaha.. If anything, it was a disappointment to EA.
As if betraying the core concepts and philosphy of the TES series wasnt enough, the lore seems to be horribly mistreated as well. Why the hell are the Dark elves teamed up with Argonians and Nords?
Maroxad
Shh... the Dev cannot cater to the lore just because you want it to be accurate.
In all seriousness though, this sounds like it's gonna be bad.

I don't think you understand the situation. The problem isn't me not me getting what I want. The problem is they are totally changing their game to make it an MMO and are going to alienate a lot of their long term customers.
It's basically equivalent to Valve suddenly announcing the next Counter Strike is going to be a single player story based tacticle shooter.

That would only be true if they completely stopping making the offline games. Seeing how they were developing this along side ESV thats just not the case. I swear only gamers get mad about having more product options. If you go to a restaurant and don't like something on the menu you simply ignore it, you don't demand the managers take it off the menu. I don't see how thats true at all. A game with a million + subs is fantastic. You can't name very many MMOs that ever reach that number let alone in there first few months. Even EA/Bioware said pre launch they would be happy with half a million subs.[QUOTE="Croag821"][QUOTE="FPSfan1985"] Because people enjoy them. Sure, but again thats not whats happening. Tons of people enjoy MMOs, so its hardly a "turd on a plate". Second there is no reason to believe that they are going to stop making the traditional ES games.[QUOTE="QQabitmoar"][QUOTE="FPSfan1985"] That would only be true if they completely stopping making the offline games. His complaint about this game is that is a WoW clone as opposed to a proper sandbox mmo.
He (or rather we) wants this, (examples here made up on the spot)
QQabitmoar is the leader of a guild, who just happens to be allied with another guild, led by Maroxad Khan. However, one day QQabitmoar decides that the iron mines near my base would do a fine job supplementing his forces, and decides to betray me, conquering my guild town and claiming the iron mines for himself and his guild.
Or, Maroxad Khan is member of a guild, however, one day he decides to mess with another guild a bit of a different alliance, Maroxad Khan's very actions result in a war between the two guilds. However, it did not stop there, both guilds pulled in frienldy guilds to help them and soon a full scale war between multiple guilds had started. An alliance not too far away is well aware of the chaos going on and decides to take advantage of it, and joins the fray, fighting us both. The impact of said war resonated not only among us 3, but towards everyone on the server, for both good and ill.
Basicly, what we want is player politics, guild drama, e-rivalries, a world we have an impact on, freedom, proper PvP, and basicly a world as opposed to a game.

This man gets it. Imagine guild warfare, sieging Solitude with your guild and allies, in order to control the taxes of the nothern sea's trade routes and the important shops in the city...
Being the count of Cheydinhall and worrying about attacks from that new zerg that formed in Morrowind...
Or fighting over ruins, artifacts, etc.
Why not throw some sea combat in there as well? Guilds can build ships, and sail to Summerset Isle, which could be a high-level zone. Questline? Sure. Only way to progress in the game? No.
Large scale guild warfare isn't the only thing. Small scale PvP over control of stuff found while exploring, such as ruins and artifacts....Most mass PvP and guild wars in L2 started because of that, control over PvE spots...

You have a valid point about the development of the MMO not meaning the end of SP Elder Scrolls games, I still would find it hard to believe it wouldn't have any effect but that's just an assumption.
I still think it's a damn waste of a great fanchise though...the Elder Scrolls just has so much going for it if the developers had the balls to make it more of a sandbox MMO.

I'm open to almost any idea, but thats simply not the gaming world we live in anymore. Extreme changes are almost always throw aside in this new generation of gaming. I don't blame any publisher for wanting to protect there pockets in sacrifice of creativity. Yeah I suppose.
With games (especially MMOs) costing so much money to make these days developers aren't really taking near as many. Also since most gamers casual players that means any game seeking a million+ players will cater towards them.
I am still waiting for a AAA developer to take some risks on a sandbox MMO though, I'd love to see a Darkfall or Mortal Online style game with a SWTOR budget and workforce, but I guess The Elder Scrolls Online won't be it.

My God, the gaming industry is stagnating fast. It's like Hollywood, same old crap redone over and over until you want to throw up. I have absolutely no interest in another MMO (or any MMO at all ever for that matter) and Skyrim was a major disappointment.SKaREO

Oblivion 1.5 was not worth the $60 tag in my opinion. It didn't explore anything new from the last game except adding poorly animated dragons that tickle you when they breath fire. It was a disappointment. Have you played The Witcher 2? When dragons breath fire, you will burn to death. Aside from this, Skyrim is running on DirectX 9 which doesn't bring out that next-gen look, and remind me that I'm playing a console port.[QUOTE="mr_zombie60"][QUOTE="SKaREO"]My God, the gaming industry is stagnating fast. The game was loyal to its predecessor and to a formula that worked. The game explored a couple new ideas such as dragons and shouts and most people are content with that. I agree dragon fights were awkward, but the dragons still felt empowering and they really added to the atmosphere. In terms of Dirext X9, I was a bit disappointed but I stopped caring when credible mods arrived.. I dont see lack of next gen looks as a realistic complaint when free mods are sitting right next to you that easily surpass the look of "next-gen".
Overrall, the game contained over a hundred hours of content and locations to explore, so if you think that isnt worth the $60 price tag, then Im baffled as to what is, lol. I enjoyed Oblivion more (as it was my first elder scrolls game), but to deny this game's value seems foolish.
