TF2 Sound Settings

I play with headphones...but every time I start the game it defaults with 5.1 sound.

Basically, any change I make to my game in the sound options screen gets forgotten as soon as I shut the game down. Is there something I am missing? Or an .ini file I can edit?

I'm not really sure, I would try posting this in the Steam forums. I'm sure there's some kind of command that would fix this.

I get the same issue except I have 5.1 Speakers and it always defaults back to 2 Speakers. Every HL2 game does this.
