Steam really needs to get their crap together. Almost every single TF2 server was laggy because everyone was downloading TF2 via free weekend. And now that the update is out it took me 5 mins to even load my game list and it took me another min to try and download the update.
Why can't Steam prepare for this kind of crap? This has happened so many times now but they can't expand the server a bit?

I've had none of these problems. A) get better internetz or B) Dont play TF2 or use their service if it botheres you that much two simple solutions. Have a nice day.
going at 5kbsec and my steam friend page has crashed in middle of a l4d game an hour ago... Hard to believe some people still don't have this masterpiece and need the 10th free week-end to make their choice about getting it...

Don't be naive (or a douche). I have great internet and couldn't connect to servers. It's probably not on his end either.

OMGZ a full 5 mins.. Hold the phone. Steam should manage their servers better. People who also don't like or want TF2 suffer along with everyone playing on steam.

Nope, not anymore. A pro Spy can play all day, be at the top of the scoreboard, and still not get his Ambassador. Meanwhile someone who rarely plays can get his Ambassador and not even consider playing Spy.
In my opinion they need to bring back the unlocks based on achievements, otherwise what is the point of getting the achievements anyway? This new system sucks. I'm hoping after this free weekend (lagfest), they turn the system around and bring back meaning to the achievements.

Totally agree. I was playing for a few hours but I got absolutly nothing. The weapon I really want the most is the huntsman but because the system is random now I have much more chance unlocking weapons I already have than the weapon I want.

The only way I ever got all the weapeons was asking my friends to help me get them which sort of ruins the point of them. And with achivements people just create acivement farming servers to get the weapons so the whole point of earning these achivements while you play the game is pointless.

I haven't had internet issues in 5 years but Steam and TF2 are running like complete garbage right now. Assumption is the mother of all f**k-ups.

Actually... achievement servers are for people like me that would rather quit playing entirely than to continue to attempt, over and over again some of the absolutely idiotic achievements required to get the last weapon unlocked. Especially since so many of them require hooking up with someone of another class that isn't a complete idiot. No thanks.

What they should have done is use the MVP system. If they wanted to make this into more of a RPG type system, then the MVPs roll or a new weapon. That way, you actually EARN a weapon. There are people who literally just sat in the spawn an entire match and got a weapon. I on the other hand, played for five hours straight and got zip.

your looking at a very rare scenario. FOr the most part, those who play the most will get the unlocks faster, thus the new system rewards time played. I love it. Yes it is a roll of the dice. The pro spy who plays all die is far more likely to get the weapon then the spy who rarely plays. You just pointed out a rare event and act like thats going to happen to everyone.
it may not drop today or tomorrow, but keep playing and you'll get it. it rewards perseverance, effort, time played. i love it.
Well, I've played for roughly eight hours since the release. The only thing I've unlocked was the Kritzkrieg... which I already had. I want my spy cloaks :cry:. Some people got all of their weapons already. Some got a weapon within 15 seconds of logging in. It just doesn't make sense.

So you'd rather keep trying your luck getting a good connection, failing due to the high traffic, go on a forum whine "they're so unprepared!!
