I recently purchased TF2 for PC and I was wondering how I could get the xbox 360 controller to play just like a shooter on the 360. TF2's gamepad interface doesnt allow the freelook with the right thumbstick, or any button for that matter...

There is no way that you can compete with people using a kb/m using a gamepad in a fps. If its a single player game or a deathmatch thats cool but why would you unnessesarily gimp your team?

You cant't say everyone who uses a gamepad sucks just because they use a gamepad. It's a ******* preferance and some players do better with it.
(Just let you guys know you can use a 360 controller natively on games like TF2 which are based on the source engine, this should work for all other source based games such as Counter Strike(Though I havent tried it) the cool part is you can also control menus with it as it gives you menu layout specifically for the controller.
Heres how to do it. Launch your game on steam, Under Options> Keyboard > Advanced > Enable Developer Console>ok/Apply
Next : press "~" key to bring up the developer console. Type "exec 360controller.cfg" then submit/enter
Thats it, you need to restart the game maybe, and make sure you start with your 360 controller plugged in.See you in team fortress 2)

IF for any reason can't get the controller working check this
he command is mispelled, try "exec 360controller.cfg" instead of contoller, if it still does'nt work check if you have joystick look and use joystick deactivated in the options menu.
Anyone missing the 360controller.cfg file from its installations (I think old HL2 retail versions dont have the file) wont be able to use this command, to check if your missing the file go to "hl2cfg" inside the engine folder, and check for 360controller.cfg, if your missing it you can either ask someone to send a copy of the file to you or try to make one for your controller yourself, here's a steam help page related to the subject.

Maybe that one person is better with a gamepad then a keyboard/mouse, but a person who is good with a keyboard/mouse will always be better in a FPS.
