Lets look at some of my recent dissapointments with games:

Metro 2033: failed to even work on my new computer!

Bulletstorm: also failed to even work

Mass effect: A boring console port with SUPER LAME combat

Deus Ex Human Revolution: Much shorter and less intriging than the original. Plus most of the decent weopons were intruduced too late in the game and had hardly any ammo available for them.

Serious Sam 3: Uninspired campaign + lame multiplayer

Fear 3: Okay this game was at least decent if not a little short. But where is the multiplayer?

Bulletstorm is a seriously fun game. You should ask people to help you get those games running!

Thank goodness for origin fvcking up their promo code thing, and letting me get 10 games (the only 10 games I have on my origin account) for free. One of them was Need for Speed Hot Pursuit, and I just did like 5 races earlier and uninstalled it in disgust. Another one was Crysis Warhead, which I'm kind of digging, but it's not anywhere near as good as I hoped. Not particularly excited about the other 8, but they were free. So, yeah. Thank goodness for origin "specials".

I don't really know. Because people actually think piracy rates are as high as Ubisoft's CEO says they are? Also, I know that what I did with origin's promo code might as well be piracy, but, I don't care. EA doesn't deserve my money. And, so far, the free games I got are just reiterating why.

Thats the great thing about Pc gaming, you can take a gamble and purchase cheap games, if they suck, there's no real waste.

Maybe you should do a little more research into the game you're considering before you buy it.

out of those games you liked the most boring and most generic one ? DeusEx HR while not having the depth of the original still a great game Serious Sam 3 what did you expect to find ? A campaign with a great story ? Anyone played serious sam games before he expects to find thousands upon thousands enemies on screen and alot of great weapons to satisfy the killer in you. Plus it has great co-op. SS3 is about shooting and it does that great Metro 2033 is one of the most atmospheric with a great story and alot of tense moments fps . Mass effect 1 is the greatest of the series and a great RPG with an amazing story

Hey Adam, Fear 3, in my opinion was actually a very highly pollished and underated game. The pacing was great and good weapons were introduced early in the game. Also there were no stupid cut-scenes to ruin immersion and the regenerating health was a good idea as it took away the tedium of health packs etc. But just a tad dissappointed at how short it was and the fact that there seems to be hardly any multiplayer.

As for Serious Sam 3 - well it was okay for the 8 - 10 hours or so that it lasted but it didn't improve much on the original. Hardly any new weapons or monsters and the gameplay didn't seem very serious sam like. I remember in the original there were all kinds of strange pick ups (like speed boots and invulnerability) which spiced up gameplay and the scenery seemed more outlandish and spectacular.

Metro 2033 might be good. But WHY oh why did it fall to work? Seriously, if I was trying to play a really old game on a new computer or vice versa I could understand. But really?

lol at the part about mass effect! If you say its the best in the series then MAY GOD HELP ME when I get around to playing ME2 which I purchased under the assumption that the mass effect series is as good as people tend to say it is!

Well you stated combat was horrible in ME and i agree somewhat. ME2 actually improved greatly on that so you might like ME2 more than 1 unlike me that i found 1 to be the better game As for Metro 2033 do you have an AMD radeon card ? If so you must install physx library in order to work ( just go in steam forums and you can find guidelines there ). Look for it to be able to play since you are missing to a great game Fear 3 while it was polished i found it quite generic. Maybe cause i was expecting way to much of the game seeing as FEAR was one of my favorite fps games

Metro 2033: failed to even work on my new computer!

thereal25

I got bored of that game quickly, even though I had a machine that could run it.

Mass effect: A boring console port with SUPER LAME combat

thereal25

The combat is weak, but the story is what always kept me playing (several times over). The series really sorts out the gameplay in 2 and 3.

Deus Ex Human Revolution: Much shorter and less intriging than the original. Plus most of the decent weopons were intruduced too late in the game and had hardly any ammo available for them.

thereal25

You crazy. DXHR is one of the few games that I've completed then almost immediately started a 2nd play through of. My only complaint was that you couldn't always tell if you've accidently killed someone...which really messes up a non-lethal playthrough.

Yeah, alot of people are saying that me2 has better combat and since that was my main gripe with the original there is hope... I think I might have deleted metro 2033 to free up space, so its probably too late anyway but I've got a nvidea card. + I did try a few things to try to get it to work but to no avail. oh well. Apparently a recent update to the game is what seems to be causing the problem for so many users.

LordRork,

I reckon DXHR was okay, but maybe my bias comes from the memory of the original.

I thought sneaking around kind of wore thin fairly quickly and the gun-your-way-through option wasn't all that great either.

Interesting. Well I guess I didn't really give it much of a chance. The first thing that annoyed me was compulsary aim assist and the whole combat system just felt kind of alien compared to what I'm used to. Furthermore it also seemed damn hard!!! So in the end I thought skrew this and I made the difficulty and all the other options to absolute easiest and I just sped my way through the game. And after I made those adjustments I don't think I needed even a single med kit! But I doubt I would've had the patience for anything less! I also experienced alot of frustration with finding people/things/elevators etc. And don't get me started on mako battles. Oh, and one more thing - the game crashed every 10 to 15 minutes with my nvidea card which probably didn't help with my patience! Oh well, I plan to give ME2 a fair chance and also try to figure out how to actually use all the combat options properly!

Nah, shooters are cool. Games like fear and doom3 rank up there amonst my fav games. I'm not sure what my fav. genre would be. I usually find that RTS have their moments but can become a bit repetitive once mastered. I haven't played many RPGs but fallout 3 was awesome!

I guess then you aren't a fan of recently released shooter games, because that is one element that I see common in the games you listed: all involve shooting to some degree.

I think you are playing the wrong kinds of games, I had the same problem when I finally got myself a new PC and was buying every game under the sun. Once I figured out what my tastes are, the number of disappointments in the last 3-4 years is pretty much like 1 or 2 games out of a couple hundred.

Stop talking out of your rectum. You stole the games and just because it's EA doesn't mean it's a good thing. EA never gave out the games for free to everyone, there were conditions attached to the use of the code but since you know sooo much about the topic then I guess you're above the terms of use and conditions put in place by EA.

I thought Metro 2033 and Serious Sam 3 were excellent bargains. Very good games, especially for their price. DX:HR was also very good; although when I bought it it was not at a bargain bin price.

Sounds like RPGs and shooters might not be for you... and you seem to expecially dislike it when it's a RPG+Shooter like ME and Deus ex... because most of the games you listed are actually well recieved games. But in defence of ME, it's not a boring console port, the PC version has a PC interface just for the PC version, their isn't even gamepad support in it. People like to classify it as a tps, but forget while it's got action combat, the rest of the game is 100% RPG. With the extensive Dialog sequences, heavy story telling and such alot of people who generally dislike RPG's, don't enjoy it. And ME is my favorite series...

Some quality games were listed on that list too bad they didn't get some respect. Anyways what games have you enjoyed playing?

Lets look at some of my recent dissapointments with games:

Metro 2033: failed to even work on my new computer!

Bulletstorm: also failed to even work

..snip...

undeadgoon

wow thats bad 2 new games that wont work..? and its a new pc. Maybe you could contact steam or where you got it from to find a solution.. as im guessing you have done the driver thing..

Hope you get it sorted tho

Or it could just be a crappy PC. I have no idea what level of PC knowledge TC has, but he didn't list any specs or anything. And I've definitely seen some people who don't have the slightest clue about performance hardware, and just think anything new should run anything. A guy I knew a couple years ago bought some little piece of crap like $300 HP desktop, and it took me like a hour to break it down, and explain to him why it ran so slow when he tried to play crysis.

But where is the multiplayer?

thereal25

All of them work on my computer and let me tell you, you have no idea how much fun you're missing >: P

Lets look at some of my recent dissapointments with games:

Metro 2033: failed to even work on my new computer! It's your computer

Bulletstorm: also failed to even work See above

Mass effect: A boring console port with SUPER LAME combat 10782 vote for 8.9 rating from users on GS says....it's not the game, it's you

Deus Ex Human Revolution: Much shorter and less intriging than the original. Plus most of the decent weopons were intruduced too late in the game and had hardly any ammo available for them. 3425 votes for 8.4 rating from users on GS says.....it's not the game, it's you

Serious Sam 3: Uninspired campaign + lame multiplayer Might be your only valid complaint yet

Fear 3: Okay this game was at least decent if not a little short. But where is the multiplayer? And you're still crying?

thereal25

Either your pc is crap or you are not maintaining it properly and you need to be more picky about what games you buy. Nothing more to be said.

Matter of opinion, I know that is a crazy concept on this forum but it is. If you don't like a game the majority of people do like the problem is not the game, it is your taste does not match it, period. Just because you don't like a game it does not make it not worth playing. There are plenty of people who think Metro 2033 sucked, what's that say about you other than opinions vary? They would tell you it is not worth playing as well, would you have listened to them?

Out of all of those games you enjoyed FEAR 3? You're kidding right?

Metro 2033 is awesome. Find a way to get it to work. Google is your friend. If you hate Google, use Bing. Just figure it out.

Bulletstorm is average so you're not missing out.

Mass Effect is spectacular. If you don't like the combat (it is kinda weak) play the sequels, they have better combat (like a lot better).

Deus Ex: Human Rev, is fun. Solid fun. Nothing out of this world, but it's a good stealth game.

Serious Sam 3- Did you expect anything else? I mean, it's Serious Sam.

FEAR 3- Go back and play the first game. Then tell me anything after it is "OK."

But yeah, Steam sales are great. They get you good games on the cheap.

Out of all the games you mentioned I only have Mass Effect 1 but that game is amazing. I even prefer the combat in Mass Effect 1 over 2 and 3.

Wow. Just Wow.

I just tried to play Batman Arkham asylum...

yep - you guessed it! - looks like another one one those games where you practically need a freaking PHD IN SOFTWARE DEVELOPEMENT to get the thing to work!!!

seriously, not impressed!
