For me it was when a friend of mine did a side by side comparison on Left 4 Dead with the 360 and the PC versions. Blew me away (especially the sound mods lol).

Consoles are still fun and get a lot of nice exclusives however after converting, I doubt I'll buy another console anytime soon.

Know a lot of you started out on the pc, but if there are those with a story to tell go for it.

I had a Sega Saturn (yes), and was only playing it occassionally. Then the creation of the internet made me purchase a PC. After being able to search around and reading up on 2 PC games I bought Half Life and Deus Ex a few weeks later and haven't looked back. Helluva great start to my pc gaming addiction. Loving it ever since!!

I liked flight sims from the very beginning all the way back to Sublogic's Jet! and Lucasarts Battlehawks 1942. That means PC. It held true then and it holds true now.

When my old 720p tv died, forcing me to hook my 360 up to my 24" 1080p monitor and thus making all my 360 games look like blurry ass.

when i played bf2142 i only played a few select games on pc prior to fully investing in it (quake, quake 3, half-life 2, cs 1.6 for a shortwhile), but when i saw what bf2142 brought to the table, i knew i was a pc gamer from then on. the past few years have made me sell off a few consoles because of how much dust they were and would be collecting due to the recent gems we've had

I would say that I am currently leaning towards not going back. Over the years I've always been a gamer who's jumped back and forth. Playing Asheron's Call, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six, and Dark Forces 2 took me away from consoles a bit. Also, 2004 had me sitting in front of my monitor with Half-Life 2, World of Warcraft, and the like. Also, towards the end of the console cycles I find myself always building a new PC or heavily upgrading one.

But right there are a few factors that might have me stay with PC permnantly.

1)MMORPGs over the horizon.

2)Steam and the accessiblity to games via the internet.

3)Square Enix failing to deliver a solid Japanese product for western audiences.

i can go play consoles if i want
good games are good games regardless of system
i don't care about graphics (i care about art style though)

for mp fps I play on pc because of customizability (120+fps) and the ability to play with the best players in custom servers.

Still play traditional consoles (GC, Ps2 and everything before). Consoles only started retrogressing with the Xbox.

When I grabbed a controller after not playing for a while and got destroyed. It's cool though, platformers are still better on consoles. 8-Bitterness

The PC has some fantastic platformers. Unless you're speaking of kb+m vs. controller. That's debatable.

This is probably the biggest reason for me not going back to consoles. I just can't stand using controllers anymore (except sport games). I just find it a huge step backwards... Plus the graphics and sound quality are way better on PC.

It's definitely one of biggest reasons for me as well. The other would be the resolution. I just can't stand video games that barely push 720. Most will claim 720p, but release at 500p 540p, etc. The jaggies, the jaggies, the jaggies. Also, I just can't stand sitting back on the couch while I game. I can only sit back on a couch for movies and television viewing, which I barely do as it is.

Despite the many reasons, I have enjoyed several console exclusives and I will continue to do so because of exclusivity. I still can't stand the controls though. I could only use a controller for sports, platformer, and racing video games.

Sadly despite wanting one my entire life, I couldn't afford a gaming PC until earlier this year. I'd played the hell out of Skyrim on 360 but bought it again on PC for mods. When I started playing on PC I was expecting load times similar to the 360's 30+ seconds. When I started going through load screens in 2-3 seconds I just thought, "Holy s***." I wonder what I can get when I get a solid state drive. I'm back up to 8-10 seconds or so from all the mods but it's a small price to pay for making the game look twice as good.

Never had that moment. I grew up playing on both consoles and a PC, and once I bought my own PC and built it I just dived deeper into PC gaming. Another major reason why I stopped caring about consoles and focused on PC gaming back in the day was because in my mind back then there was jack sh*t nothing to play on consoles and a sh*t load of fabulous games on the PC which just backlogged me year after to.

TL;DR The SINGLE reason I stopped caring about consoles was because in my day there was zero games to play on the consoles and A LOT to play on the PC.

You all should be able to adapt instantly to controllers.

I can use a controller for fps on consoles and still play top.

If you can't that just means your natural hand eye coordination isn't that good.

And by instantly, I mean if someone hands you a controller, w/o any prac you should be able to do better than a console player. Even if you haven't used that controller before, it shouldn't be a problem.

Probably 2004, the best year in gaming for PC I say. I stuck in Far Cry and it just blew me away. I then proceeded to play Unreal Tournament 2004, Battlefield Vietnam, Thief Deadly shadows, Doom 3, COD: UO, Rome Total War, KOTOR 2, the chronicles of Riddick and of course Half Life 2, That made my head spin.

Starfox 64 was probably the biggest highlight of my N64 years. It might not have been the best N64 video game, but it was exciting picking up that Starfox 64 box with the rumble pack lol.

I would say Counter-Strike, Joint Operations: Typhoon Rising really helped me make PC as my only platform but I would say when I saw my friend playing San Andreas lag free on the PC and then going back to playing it on my PS2 did it for me. I couldn't play that laggy PS2 version any more. The mouse and keyboard had made me choose PC for shooters long before that.

I used to be a big console guy when I was a kid, but once I realized mods and the potential of PC's I had to switch over. One of the biggest reasons was that I loved Morrowind, Oblivion, and the Fallout seriers and when I was looking up cheats I discovered the huge variety of mods, enhanced graphics. At this point I just had to own a PC. So I saved up some cash for like a year and a half and built myself a nice gaming PC. Never going back.

I switch between the PC and PS3. No doubt that PC offers a much better experience, but there are still a lot of great exclusives for the PS3 plus I have a few friends who play on the PS3 so it's fun to play online with them.

I think the game which looks completely different on the PC vs the consoles would be Battlefield 3. You'd be blown away by the difference when you put them side by side IRL. Almost thought it was a different game.

When I discovered triple ply toilet roll, I can never go back to single p... Oh damn thought this was off-topic. Erm.. Probably when I first played WoW, the first few days was more trial and error but after getting to grips with it I realized this was the genre I'd spend most time playing for the rest of my life. I've played more GW2 in the past month than any other games combined. Definitely the turning point in my gaming habit.

I still enjoyed playing some console games up until about a year ago. The moment of never going back though is about a year ago when I bought a 47 inch 1080p tv and hooked my pc up via mini hdmi. Was absolutely blown away by the graphics and have since sold all my consoles lol. I doubt I will ever buy a console again.

Amen to this statement. Battlefield 2 is hands down the best multiplayer FPS from that past decade. Playing that game for a good 2-2.5 years after it came out were amazing. Have yet to play another FPS that did what BF2 did.

I had regular PC from bestbuy, had good specs but it wasn't a gaming PC, decided to get a Video card for it.

that video card was ATI 4870, a beast of a card back then. Loaded up some Crysis because of all the hype, than I just stood there and looked at the foliage for a couple of hours, than I went for a swim with a turtle.

I still play some exclusives on my consoles, but other than that I love my PC.

People waiting for next gen consoles to come out don't understand that next gen can be had now on PC.

I go back and forth A LOT. Most fighting games just never seem to see the light of day on PC or have its main competitive community situated there, and that is a big reason I spend a lot of time on my 360 (alongside how certain games like Dragon's Dogma, Catherine, etc. just somehow remain console exclusive, yet are things everyone should be able to try) Since I don't own a top-of-the-line PC, I'll sometimes opt for a console version. Sometimes a used copy can be cheaper (and can even be sold again; not necessarily to a place like Gamestop, but perhaps a buddy or something. If I could only sell old Steam games...), or a port is awful. Also kind of depends on the genre. FPS for sure, I almost always opt for the PC version even if I can't run it at maximum settings (medium settings? Fine by me!). But for a game like the upcoming DMC:Devil May Cry, I'll likely play on the 360. I'd be fine with just that. It's a single-player game that will most certainly have no significant modding scene. Whatever. I dunno. I'll never stay in one place. My Steam and 360 game libraries are already both absurd individually and I'll likely buy a next-gen console as well.

I was always PC first. I had consoles as a kid, but I spent more time playing Age of Empires and Starcraft on the family PC than I did playing games on consoles. I was playing strategy games on PC with my father before I even knew what Pokemon is.

I first became interested in gaming after playing the Baldur's Gates games years ago... but it was after playing The Witcher on pc and hearing news of The Witcher 2 that I decided to get a proper gaming laptop. And much like everyone else, playing games on consoles isn't really as fun for me any more.

I agree that there is still a need for consoles due to sports and fighting games. And in the case of the PS3, there are definitely some stand out exclusives. But even for games like DMC, I would much rather play on pc just b/c multi plats generally still look so much better and perform smoother on pc. But then again, I have a high end laptop. I probably wouldn't be so in love with pc gaming if I had to play on medium settings.
