Suprisingly its actually been like a good week since the last thread about this...
Anywy, I say Half-Life series for all 10.
My subjective top 10 best as of now:
1. The Neverhood
2. Planescape: Torment
3. Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl
4. Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura
5. Baldur's Gate Series
6. Europa Universalis series (and the likes made by Paradox: Crusader Kings, Hearts of Iron...)
7. Fallout 1 & 2
8. Amnesia: The Dark Descent
9. The Witcher
10. Civilization series
Honorable mentions (the ones very high on my faves but didn't made it to top10): Machinarium, Stalker: Call of Pripyat, Portal, Mount & Blade, Diablo series, Darklands, Warcraft 3, Starcraft, Simcity series, Neverwinter nights series, Capitalism 2, Worms series (the 2d ones), Age of Empires 2, Icewind Dale series, Vampire: MtB, Half-life, Heroes of Might and Magic series.
Of all time will be very tricky as some games of the past don't really match up with new ones.
The 10 games I have enjoyed the much, played the most and have the most fond memories of:
Planescape: Torment
Frontier: Elite II
Civilization
Betrayal at Krondor
Medieval II: Total War
Master of Orion II: Battle at Antares
Europa Universalis II
Elder Scrolls: Daggerfall
EastSide Hockey Manager 2007
Championship Manager 93/94
Just because I loved playing a game doesn't make it a good game, then again, it did have something that made me play it for a very long time.
As I can't really compare the games in my list, here's my top 10 in random order
Unreal Tournament (with 2004 being a runner-up)
Dune 2
Transport Tycoon
Prince of Persia (early 1990's version)
X-Com - UFO: Enemy Unknown
Age of Empires 2
NFS Most Wanted (with honorable mention going to Stunts 4D back in the days)
Master of Magic
Syndicate
Lost Files of Sherlock Holmes
No order:
Planescape Torment (pinnacle of WRPG's, betwen this and Baldur's Gate 2, i simply can't make a final decision, i love these two games so much, but in the end i have to hand it to PT for its deep story)
Duke Nukem 3D (the modding comunity surrounding this game is bigger then of Quake's, and thanks to it, this is one of the most entertaining FPS's of all time, popular multiplayer is also present, and updated graphics that could make it look absolutely stunning. I always play it from time to time)
Fallout 2 (this game, i consider it a more polished version of Fallout1 with a bigger story, deep combat & character creation system, and also consider it the pinnacle of the Fallout series)
Max Payne (its noir-like atmosphere is unrivaled in the gaming industry, and its spectacular action, and story gives it a timeless classical status amongst other games that tried to copy its style)
The Longest Journey (the greatest adventure game i have ever played, with the most beautifull story ever told)
GTA: San Andreas (the amount of mods for this game is mind-boggling, plus added fully functional extremely popular MMO-like multiplayer, which makes it one of the most open ended games ever, and most entertaining, this i consider to be, by far, the absolut pinnacle of the GTA series)
Gothic 2 (this i consider it to be a more polished version of the first game with a much bigger story&world, hard dificulty, life-like NPC's that sleep, eat, drink, have conversations between themselfs, and react acordingly to your actions. I consider it to be far, faar greater then Morrowind, and one of the most greatest 3D RPG's ever made)
Unreal Tournament '99 (the original UT that is actually more played in multiplayer then both 2k4 and UT3 combined. With thousands upon thousands of fan made maps, huge comunity, addicting gameplay, superb weapons and clear graphics, this game is still hugely popular on PC, and could be played by anyone)
I got much more, but i can't think of many right now. These above ^, i've ben played for a few years now. Honorable mentions go, ofc. to Doom, Diablo, Starcraft, also love to play them.
1. Half-Life 2
2. Deus Ex
3. The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind
4. Braid
5. Team Fortress 2
6. Doom
7. Crysis
8. Civilization IV
9. Half-Life 2: Episode Two
10. The Secret of Monkey Island
something along these lines:
Far Cry, No One Lives Forever 2, Diablo 2, and Jedi Knight: Dark Forces 2 deserve honorable mention.
As you can see, I prefer single-player for the most part.
