For me, that title easily goes to L4D2 with L4D in a very close 2nd. Dead Island was also a very good game. I really hope there is a sequel (with the sales that is almost certain, that and they are making a movie now).
Dead Island hands down, it's a little rough at first, but you get used to it after a while, there's no zombie game that offers what DI has, shame Left 4 Dead has only a few players playing nowadays, that was also another great game.
For combat that primarly relies on using basic household weapons and other various melee weapons, Such as an oar, a lead pipe, a broomstick, slegehammer etc. Dead Island For combat that primarily relies on you using firearms, such as shotguns, pistols, assult rifles etc. Left 4 Dead, Left 4 dead 2.
Dead Island was surprisingly good, and L4D1+2 were really great while they lasted...but I'm going to have to go with Dead Rising 2 on this one. It had a fantastic mix of high tension and oddball fun; you had to think about serious matters like escorting survivors, grappling with the military and getting creative with your weaponry, but at the same time you could just enjoy the lighter side of having no authority figures around and thousands of zombies to play with. I guess it just felt like the most 'complete' zombie game, in my mind.
None. Dead Rising 2 would easily win if it didn't have the stupid game timer design. Dead Island would win if it wasn't so buggy and didn't suffer from a general lack of polish.
I say get Dead Risng 2, cheaper now. Wait 6 months for patches then get Dead Island if you want more.
Dead Island. It was an incredible surprise, offers an excellent atmosphere, and the combat in the game is really second to none. The bugs I encountered were minimal, and I think they just released a fairly large patch fixing a bunch of issues people were having.
Dead Rising 2 is also quite entertaining, and I agree that it would be a contender without the ridiculous timer mechanic. A game that focuses on weapon experimentation, which barely gives you any time to play with weapons if you want to do everything... Japanese game design is really crazy sometimes.
I was wonderin this same thing. The Walking Dead's given me a full hardon for zombie action. I've been playing RE 2 and 4. I will be checking out that Dead Island very soon. The cinematic trailer for it is just....I don't know if words can do it justice. Literally one of the best trailers for a game ever.
Killing Floor is the best zombie-like game out there. Left 4 Dead is okay as well, though the weapons leave alot to be desired (they feel like pea-shooters).
