OK so the story goes like this:

I downloaded a torrent, some video file, packed in a .rar. In a readme file beside it it says that I can install some Easy Decrypter if I dont want the hdtv-xvid codec. So I want to install it and watch, but WMP doesnt move. then computer shuts down and shows the following Blue screen: DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL ....... NDIS.sys.

So I reset, but the thing doesnt seem to work. Several programs show errors (DAEMON- tools, Nokia phone software...) then I get the same BSOD. I try safe mode- which works. What do I have to do to fix this?

You would have to use Winrar to open the .rar files. If the video is in rar format it's most likely fake. Once you've opened it make sure to download K-lite codex pack.

Have you tried a system restore? This should put Windows back to a time before you installed the dodgy software.

Use system restore in safe mode. Then download www.ccleaner.com. Run it in safe mode. Update your video driver and try again.

Sorry for two consecutive posts. I just found out that system restore does not work- it does not have any restore points. So what now?

The fact that it told you do "install a decrypter" tells me it was most likely a virus.

Yeah but what what if the antivirus scan wont be enough? What if NDIS.sys is really corrupt or something? Plus, does antivirus even work in safe mode?

Yeah you should do a scan in safe mode. You can always format and reinstall windows...
