Ok so everyone who played this game for a while now knows that this game game is in desperate need of improvement. What would you have changed if you were the developer?

My biggest gripe with the game are the respawing enemies and repopulating roadblocks. I would have made the post repopulate in 3 days. And all the destroyed huts and objects should stay destroyed. THen the repopulated eniemies should learn from the last encounter, say you sniped them one by one, well now they are not going to stand in the open anymore they are going to be in a hut or behind cover and they will have patrols looking to flush out snipers. Or say you went in machine guns blazing, well now they will have and snipers on vantage points and guys with shotties ready for close combat. Something along these lines would not only make every encounter unique but would also give you a feeling that you are making an impact on the ai and the world and that its punching back. Instead of respawing the exact same scenario.

Also incurable malaria, gimme a break ...

So it seems the team put alot of effort into the engine and fell short of making the game fun. Ubi montreal seems like a bit of a fail dev with a lot of cash. What would you have improved if you were project manager ?????

Get rid of that stupid message that says "You can now save at this location" after unlocking a hideout. Get rid of those "save boxes" at hideouts & gun shops. Get rid of color-coded directional signs.

To the Thread Kreator: I don't know if they can make A.I. intelligent enough to learn from the tactics we gamers use.

Some improvements I'd like would be; - A proper widescreen FOV - Slower respawns - Not have everyone attack me on site - if my rust guns jam so should the NPCs

The respawns and roadblocks are definitely the biggest gripe I've been hearing about the game. I can't believe nobody has made a simple mod to change the respawn times and roadblock repopulation delay.... That would make the game twice as good for me. It's a pretty fun game overall, but when you have to go through a roadblock every few minutes it gets a little too repetitive. As far as the AI learning your techniques idea..... meh....Obviously the models are limited and everything, but the idea is they're entirely new soldiers manning the blocks. I think the AI is decent enough to make each encounter fairly unique......although still repetitive.

The roadblocks wouldn't be so bad if you could just haul ass through them, but they seem to be able to jump into their cars and get on your tail instantly at least half the time, and once they damage your car you're forced to stop and shoot it out.

Also even when you're driving full speed, they have no problem nailing you from 300m away through trees, fire, smoke and bushes. Crysis was awesome at enemies not being able to see you if you even went into a little shrub, this game they can blast you through 20 bushes in a jungle with a sniper shotgun.

And sometimes I can be standing right next to a guy and he doesn't seem to notice me, yet others they spot me from hundreds of meters away. I've also caught them shooting me close range even though they aren't even looking at me.

I'd also rather have had instant switching to the turrent or exiting the vehicle, because often times in the time that it takes with the animation, you're still taking damage and lose 2-3 health bars before you can even do anything.

Wasn't that also like with Crysis?!

Do you think they will release some patches for all these issues?!

Well it would still be great to see some of those problems fixed. Evenso I probably won't get this game. Too expensive to buy something which is good but not great.

Well maybe its asking too much but all the game really needs to do is keep track of your stats for a specific area. A certain accumalation of stats will trigger a certain tactic. For example you killed 5 guys from long range, the repawns will hide out more and send out patrols to scout vantage/possible sniping positions. Or if you use a run and gun close range machine gun tactic the respawns will use a counter tactic forcing you to change up your tactics. Something along those lines would be neat

I thought Crysis was fine, as you could have a scope, reflex sight or simple iron sights that just zoomed your xhair, making it easy to aim for the head like I do in any game where headshots count.

Far Cry 2 though, you only have a scope on limited weapons, everything else you have to aim down the sight to make it accurate enought to get hs at a distance. I just cannot see crap when I start firing looking down the sight, if you aim for the head, any recoil makes the target covered by your gun model, so you have to look down, see where they're running, and then start firing again. Makes it hard to get hs besides close range in this game where you can just use the xhair. Crysis was easy to hs anyone any time at any range.

Do you guys feel that the actual game is far different from what has been said in previews and shown in videos( gameplay wise ). Its like they 'll do or say anything just so we buy the game. They have this massive hype machine that spews tons of PR bs just so people have this false image of the game. And then when the game comes everyone finds out its crap and the execs of ubi are sitting there laughing there heads off because so many acually bought it and believed the hype promising each other there next game will be even more crap.

Too many uninspired devs have too much cash and for that we have to thank console player who can't appreciate quality games and will buy anything.

Now i will go back to my shrine i built for Valve and blizzard and sacrifice some more kittems and new borns

Make 50km worth something than it being repetitive crap all around. I spend more time traveling to a destination that I will fight in for 5 mins. Make people sleep/eat/talk and stop detecting me a mile away. Make the soldiers fight other people or something. Its so dull :|

^^ agreed It seems to be the whole country versus the main character. I kept getting attacked at a cross road by a car. So I thought screw this, loaded a saved game. Drove to near the corner parked in the bush and hid. The car drove by. All of a sudden it stops, turns round and they find me some how... WTF!

I feel that this game has followed a model similar to Assassin's Creed. The graphics are above average, the storyline is a waste of time, the acting is done by a computer programmer inside a cubicle who is literally reading the script word-by-word for the first time as he records the in-game voices, and the AI is stupid (and in the case of almost all FPS games, the dumber the AI is, the harder the AI ex. 180 twitch headshot from 100m away when you're fully camoflauged in the undergrowth). Remember the gameplay in Assassin's Creed? "Do the X, Y, and Z objective to complete first mission. Then do the X, Y, and Z objectives, but this time in another part of the city!...through the whole damn game." That's how it feels like in Far Cry 2. Here are improvements I suggest:

- Remove magical shotgun snipers that can constantly hit you from 100m away.

- Put a radiant dot on the pointer of the crosshair, like in Crysis. It is much harder to aim with a real crosshair in-game than it is in real life. Why? Your screen is probably 20 inches, the graphics are unrealistic, sound detection and ambience is unrealistic, and physics are unrealistic.

- Prevent the guards from respawning so quickly and add some diversity.

A mod can implement all of these.

I don't think the enemies respawning at roadblocks should adapt to your earlier tactics. How are they supposed to know what happened last time? You killed them all, and there was no way for the dead guys to tell the other ones what happened. I must admit it's kind of annoying that the huts and roadblocks get rebuild and repopulated so quickly. As for the malaria, it's probably incurable if you don't go to the hospital/get professional treatment.

The only thing I hate are the countless roadblocks. They make driving completely useless, especially since they respawn the second you leave them. I littarely cleared out a road block, drove off, then realized a few seconds later that I took the wrong road. I turn around to go through the roadblock I just cleared, and they were all there. What's the point of even "scouting" the roadblocks if you have to clear them out every single time you need the resources from them?

really. I'v killed 3 zebras and I think i'v hit a couple cows on accident lol. I hit a deer as well on accident was kinda funny. I'v seen plenty of zebra though.

Although I have to agree shouldn't take 25 shots to kill 1 guy thats the only annoying feature. Crysis doesn't take that many shots to kill an enemy its pretty easy.

I hope Far cry 2 mods are already in the works :P

If you don't like the road blocks, just go off road. Works every time. 8)

I've actually spent most in game time roaming the wilderness in my buggy, so the occasional time when I decide to go on the road the occasional road block is fine.

I do, and they magically spot me, when I'm a long way away, they hop in their cars, and they shoot at me until my car slows down, so I'm forced to stop and fight.

I do adore the buddy though.

You know your right, i guess i didn't think that part through. But i guess you could do it that they radio through for reinforcments and the respawn tme is the time it takes them to get to the outpost. And the guy who radiod them coulda told about the attackers tatics or something. in either cause i would welcome a more dynamic ai that forces you to change your style of playing.

LOL :D i agree. iwant my my money back and more importently

Who were the testers of this game ??? How could anybody play this and tell the devs : yeah that was super fun, that was, clearing that outpost for the 30 th time really got my heart pumping, again.

I mean either the devs totally ignored the play tester, or the testers weren't gamers that have played alot of games or the publisher was rushing the game outa the door.

But what i honestly think is that Ubi montreal is just a crap development house. They just dont know how to make fun games and obviously can't be gamers themselves and that really shows in the game.

I say I fear the new price of persia...

-Complete Revamp of AI (No percision shots from 500meters and hitting a guy in a moving car).

-Fixed Damage System (I don't care if it makes it too easy. 2-3 shots should kill someone). I also can't seem to wound enemies. They just walk off the bullet that I put in their leg.

-Different Road Blocks (Searches instead of instant attack or remove enemy respawn completely).

-Remove Jamming System (I've already had enough of this bs).

-Better Textures and Models for various objects (Sandbags come to mind for models. Car Textures look like crap also).

Wow there is a huge amount of hate in this thread. I haven't seen a game this loathed for a long time. It seems some people love it and others really, really hate it. I haven't played it but I think i'll wait, coz you guys are painting a picture of a really frustrating and tiresome game.

Well i don't hate the game, it has the potential to be very good. But there are so many things that dampen the fun.

Also this game has been hyped through the roof, one of my favourite publications here in australia gave this game a 10/10. I was like wow that sure sounds good and wen't ahead and bought this game expecting something awesome. ANd i have to say the gfx are really something but the rest is average, real average.

it's just physics, the more a game gets hyped the more the backlash is gonna be been when it doesn't deliver.

The question im asking myself now is do people acually care enough to mod this game to greatness, I certainly hope so cause im sure it could be a lota fun if the main gripes are improved...

And so this thread comes full circle, viola

Road blocks can be annoying, but it's easy enough to drive around them. I find roadblocks to be pretty fun target practice with my mortar. I also like clearing an entire roadblock except for 1 injured guy, then torch the entire place and watch the fire slowly creep towards him and kill him.

I really like this game. :P

sounds like a driving/shooter hybrid? tracks with beautiful scenery and occasional shooting?

the enemy respawn seems to be more serious than I initally thought; guess I'll skip this one completely, not even waiting for bargain bin price.

There is HUGE potential for great mods and I have no doubt that the floodgates will open within the next week. The game has only been out for 2 days so IMO you should play something else for a week (Dead Space, Fable 2, Sacred 2) and wait for some kickass mods.

The last game that had this much potential was S.T.A.L.K.E.R and look at how great that game is now *with mods* compared to the vanilla version.

-I wish the game had a fast travel option in it, traveling on foot takes 5-15 minites or more sometimes

-enemies respawn way too fast, you never feel like you accomplish anything because of how quick the enemies respawn in the game

-it takes way too many shots to drop enemies sometimes (there not wearing armor..so why do they seem to take a beating like this?)

-not alot of diversity in terms of enemies and mission types in the game..

Personally I think some of you expected too much out of the game its seems to be a 50/50 love or hate thing going on..to each its own, personally I'm having a blast playing the game so far..(amazing graphics, gameplay and sound design all across the board)

I don't buy into hype and I would probably end up skipping this game, but I don't think people should be faulted for *expecting* more than usual for a hyped game as this one.

Get rid of that stupid message that says "You can now save at this location" after unlocking a hideout. Get rid of those "save boxes" at hideouts & gun shops.

Herrick

These ^, but have the directions on the signposts toggleable.

Also, let us pick up physics objects, like barrels, boxes. Let us shoot tires out from vehicles.

I'm one of the people who's loving the game. I'm currently at 58% of the game based on the statistics screen. I think Ubisoft made a mistake using the Farcry title. That made a lot of people expect a high quality shooter. Farcry 2 is much more like GTA or Mercenaries 2.

If I could redesign / change the game I'd:

1) Add civilians to the world. Just people walking along the road, small clusters of huts with people who are not soldiers. It really kills immersion that the country seems populated by only soldiers.

2) Make factions matter. Align yourself with one of the factions and they wont attack you unless you shoot first

3) Stop having the enemies just attack the second they see you unless it's in a guarded 'mission target area'. Have the soldiers at the check points stop you. If your with an enemy faction they'll attack, if your more or less neutral they might try to demand 'toll payment' (a bribe) or try to confiscate your weapons / car / diamonds / whatever. the higher your reputation the less likely the soldiers should be to attack you since you'd have earned a reputation for being a mean #@$

4) Bump up the damage on automatic weapons

5) Give the AI a driving course. The AI sometimes seems pretty good (going for cover, trying to help wounded allies) other times it's kinda dumb. But once the AI gets behind a wheel it becomes a complete retard I'm driving along in my huge Land Rover with a .50 cal mounted machine gun and the AI spots me in his bloody ford fiesta.. and he tries to ram me?!

OK, so Spore sucks, Clear Sky sucks, Dead Space sucks, Far Cry 2 sucks, GTA IV sucks, Saints Row 2 sucks, and Fallout 3 sucks.

actually make the weapon models realistic, have the ejection ports on the right side of the gun.
