It's absolutely impressive. This is an amazing service and takes digital distribution to a whole new level. This is a VERY amazing product, if created correctly there is some serious change in gaming. Consoles could disappear.

I seriously doubt that. Pretty much everyone has already adopted the system of their choosing. Their timing is way off. How can they expect to make money if their competition is peaking?

I think it's a great idea, and could be a very good thing for gaming. I'm definitely interested in seeing how this plays out, and I've already signed up for the beta. Who knows what it'll do to consoles, namely the PS3 and 360. The Wii is sort of it's own thing, and I can see Nintendo still making consoles, even with OnLive. Although the 3rd party support could go way down. It's all very up in the air. If Onlive does well, I can imagine Microsoft and Sony, and possibly Nintendo if it DOES hurt their market sorta partnering with this system. But at this point, I'd say it's impossible to see where this will go. I see the potential though, and I hope it succeeds.

sounds completely stupid, maybe I'm not getting it? how can an internet connection download 60fps realtime while decyphering multiple player inputs.

lag on games is already an issue without such ridiculous demands. and what's that onlive ad at the top of my screen for??? let's build some hype to get some investment and then piss it away pretending to be working on the next big thing.

am I not getting it?

How can gaming possibly go further than true 3D? It just hasn't been adopted by the mainstream gamer yet... I'm guessing that the motion sensing Wiimote was seen as a necessary step in this direction, since the VirtualBoy failed in the end. If it was in color, and the size of sunglasses, it would've done great... Stereoscopic 3D glasses are as lightweight and mobile as sunglasses now btw...

well I was going to say each incarnation that has come and failed has had it's own drawback which has caused it's downfall. The latest nvidia glasses being you need a new expensive LCD monitor with 120Hz refresh (or something) and lower your res and FPS count. BUT, the drawback each time has actually been the concept in itself. everyone will feel nautious (spelling?) or headachy after a certain period of time, and most gamers like to play for hours. ALSO, the brain accepts the 3D world as norm pretty quickly and the Wow! factor is lost after the first couple of minutes of play, so then you're just left with a headache. it'll never be mainstream. same reason it never became mainstream in movies.

I had a Virtual Boy, and I loved it. I would play it until I fell asleep at night.... But shutter glasses are really the low end of stereoscopic 3d gaming. I was really referring to completely immersive displays such as the z800 3d visor...

I clicked the link - I love the pic of a guy driving while wearing them, lol. The screen res is 800x600 (not sure what a triad pixel is?) I shudder when a game plays at 800x600 before I change settings. Have you had a go of these? I'm sure they seem better than they really are.

I haven't tried them myself.. TOO expensive! Especially for SVGA resolution... But the fact that they use OLED is promising, as the image is better than LCD. And I'm hopeful that they'll release atleast a 720p version pretty soon. These things have been around for years... When they release a higher resolution version, I'll probably pick up a pair...

Won't effect the market as the currents broadband infrastructure isn't there and people like to own stuff, it's hard enough getting people to buy they're games as a service never mind thier hardware
