What the heck is robotonic? Is that some kind of tonic drink?

@topic -

Empire Total War - For some reason, leading soldiers that are mostly equipped with rifles isn't as much fun as upfront melee carnage that can be found in Rome: Total War and Medieval 2: Total War.

Sins of a Solar Empire - I got bored real fast. I guess I was expecting a game that was a mix of Master of Orion 2 and Homeworld 2. I guess I got this game with too many expectations.

The good game I dislike is Empire: Total War. It had a quality base, but there's something about it that just turns me off big time.

Games good as in "highly rated" that I hate are Fallout 3 and Oblivion. Both of them stink.

Sins of a Solar Empire because there's virtually no need for ANY management in battles because your troops are all automated anyways. Whereas in most RTS, especially Total War games, tactics can often turn the tides of battle.

GTA4 - it's repetitive, it's a boring concrete jungle which all looks the same, it's ported badly, the storyline is a joke. I could go on, but I'll spare you :P

Bioshock - the story is interesting but the gameplay leaves much to be desired. Might as well read a good book, it'd have a better story and I wouldn't have to suffer through any bad gameplay because there wouldn't be any.

DoW Winter Assault Expansion - I can't stand playing as the new class. It's also the most boring class imaginable, and not even a real race in the board game, which is half the reason I play the game; because I used to love the board as a kid.

Doom 3 - So repetitive. The environment and the gameplay does not change, and the enemy AI seems very dull and predictable after the first half hour. Because of this, it didn't need the 18 or so hours of gameplay, which just made the game all the more boring because it never ended.

The futility of people saying that Gamespot overrate games is that if it was a game that you liked you wouldn't be complaining about it if it got a high score would you? Its overrated when we dont agree. We are all guilty of it and I would also say Oblivion because its a mess of a game and also San Andreas - I still can't understand how such a hit and miss title was so well received by everyone from Gerstmann to Silvio Berlusconi himself!!

Silvio said "he's not a saint" on national television so I guess that's right for him :p

And, "overrated" games are games that have been taken with no criticism, which sometimes emerges after the "hype" is gone, sometimes it remains sleeping for no reason (basically every FF for PSX, Prototype, Hellgate: Loldon, Assassin's Creed, Unreal Tournament 3, Fallout 3 are the first that come to mind), there is not reall"complaining" about them, only a bunch of people that keeps splurting things like "I had fun so the game is good no matter its gargantuan and obvious flaws".

But whatever, let's just enjoy the games we overrate and don't give a damn about what criticism is, sometimes it's better that way.

Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare - Mediocre short Single Player campaign full of respawning enemies and other cheap techniques that attempted to lengthen it, and a multiplayer that was okay, but introduced a Ranking system that made it seem like BF2's retarded little brother.

 OMG wow my bad. Haven't played the game in over 6 years, and absolutely noone I knew used that race when we played, although at least 1 person had every other race. I had honestly completely forgotten about them... But I stand by my point that they are the most boring race imaginable. Probably the reason no one bought into them.

CRYSIS, AND CRYSIS WARHEAD. I bought Crysis Warhead a couple months ago, installed it, played it for literally 40 minutes, grew bored of what was likely to be the remaining 5 or 6 hours of gametime, and uninstalled it. It now has a place as official cup coaster.

Another one I hated was Fable 2. It was just so mind numbingly easy. Since I wasn't bothered by scars whatsoever (Who doesn't find them badass?) dying was of no concern to me. I would simply rush head-first into huge mobs and bosses, spam X or whatever the meelee button was with a dash of Y (magic?) until I was killed, instantly ressurect, continute the process until the enemy was dead. Honestly it was almost as repetetive as the Ninja Turtles: Turtles In Time HD remake.

EDIT: Didn't notice that this was in the PC section... might as well ignore the Fable 2 comment.

Oh man the community on BF2 is ruthless. I've managed to learn how to fly the helecopter well and call pull off barrel rolls in them just like any real Helicopter pilot, but god damn the people flying jets must have their sensitivity set to 200 because the things they do... lets just say they make me J in my pants.

May i ask why?cluclap

Sure.

Most of the hype and the appreciation it received was because it was one of the first games to use 3D and FMVs, utter bullcrap to be honest. Games that mix 2D and 3D or simply use only 2D were much better graphically and artistically (take a look at Star Ocean: TSS, for example), so the "OMG 3D" is a thing a lot of people takes out of their hat with no real reason other than ignorance.

FMVs, sure we all can give it that, it's still untrue. Take a look at SC's movies, even though they have a different way of being made they look parsecs ahead of FMVs.

Story? I don't really know what to say about it, it simply looks flat from when you get near the end of the first disc on...Sephiroth's *revelation* was so pathetic I couldn't believe what I just saw when the cutscene ended, what the heck was people thinking when they claimed Sephiroth as badass?
The end of the first disc was said to be touching, wasn't it? Maybe for flint or some other tender rock it was.
During the second disc, the parts that were most annoying the ice cave part, when the Weapons and Cloud's "past" are revealed to you. A failed experiment that NOW wants to be labelled? Kinda feels like a joke to be honest; and when you are forced to use Cid for no real reason. I mean, why not let Tifa, or Barrett, lead? Who gives a damn about an old geezer you probably didn't even care about before? And now he's even the leader of the group, that's just perfect.
Oh and I almost forgot, Hojo's "I am his father" was probably the first time I really felt sorry for somebody, if I knew the name of the one who thought this I would have sent him a handful of bucks to help funding his mental illness treatment.
The third disc is mostly free roaming, and that's fine. The only facepalmish flaw is the very last fight, when Cloud hears Sephiroth laughing and faces him one on one. So, Sephiroth woke up for good and was one-hit-killed without even trying to put up a fight. Sure that's really the power of someone who almost erased a planet.

The combat is so awkward I can't even fathom how can people actually enjoy it. It's the worst system I know, only peered by NWN2's. Not even Tetris has such a horrible way to handle killing, it's a turn based system where the only reason to use a friggin turn based system was taken away, because the turns don't matter as long as the turn timer (is that how you call that yellow bar?) is filled.

The characters were MEANINGLESS. This is a perfect example of what does "overcustomization" mean. There is virtually no difference between each character, you just have to choose the party by your personal tastes because of the Materia system.

All in all that pretty much sums it up. Sound was actually very good, some minigames were plain frustrating(Mogs, OMG!!!) and others turned out to be quite fun (skateboarding, the motorbike smashing, that LOLSTEALTH in the Shinra building, there are others but I don't remember them at the moment).

I would have given it barely a 7, I'd like to know how some people think this game is actually "the PSX's best" when its supposedly strong points were actually incredibly flawed...

Half Life 2 (put up huge flame sheild) while I did enjoy the Gravity Gun levels, I really did not like the rest of the game that much. It was ok, but not the best game ever. Maybe if I would've played it when it came out, i would've thought differently, but playing it with the Orange Box was a huge let down for me.

I'd recommend giving Saints Row 2 a go. I'm not sure if they've patched the PC version yet as the framerate was friggin awful, and it was glitched to hell, but Saints Row 2 on the 360 helped me reminisce in the good old days of San Andreas.

Far Cry 1 - i must be the only person out there to like the second one better, i just found the first to be generic and unpleasent, although it did look damn good

Bioshock - gameplay before story fools, this game has such terrible gameplay that even the greatest story ever (which it didn't have) couldn't save it. boring gunplay, gimmicky plasmids, repetative level deseign, stupid ai, non existant difficulty. where does all the love come from?

GTA 4?? How could u...There r many options what to do in that game.

For me, far cry 2. WTF. Buy weapon? Come on, y can just pick up from the enemy?? Or take the ammo instead..

The enemies are very difficult to c. My eyes dried up so fast after i play dis game, i can only last 30 minute though, then i boring.

I gotta agree with you about The Witcher. Despite loving so many RPG's ranging from DnD classics like Planescape: Torment to Final Fantasy 3 and 7, I just couldn't get into The Witcher. I tried playing the regular version first, and then the enhanced version, and despite making it a bit further into the campaign the second time it just grew much too tiresome, and I just couldn't grow attatched to either the story or any of the characters.

Half Life 2 (put up huge flame sheild) while I did enjoy the Gravity Gun levels, I really did not like the rest of the game that much. It was ok, but not the best game ever. Maybe if I would've played it when it came out, i would've thought differently, but playing it with the Orange Box was a huge let down for me.

i like it a lot. But I still do not think it holds a candle to the original. I did not mess up my shorts like a lot of fanboys did when it came out.

Ask me after ravenholm it totally lost the HL feel and turned into a psychics game, that wasnt the bad part, the bad part was the levels where keep on decenting in quality and thy used crap like respawining enemies, undestruvtible turrets and mines that you got to pick up with the gravity gun (come on......) and other crap that killed the action..... i like both episodes more.
