Why does everyone hate Gamestop so much?
Is it because of their prices? Or the fact that they dont really carry too much PC titles for PC Gamers?
I really just saw this hate recently on these forums and was just wondering why all the hate?

They carry little to no PC games and the amount they give for trade-ins is just insulting most of the time. Not too mention the fact that they gut their console games, meaning when you purchase a *new* game from them, it's almost always in fact used. I have gone there many times and asked the clerk if they had a new game that was still shrink wrapped and they just look at me like I'm crazy, I refuse to pay full price for a game that has been gutted.
Too small of stores, too much traffic...
Clerks are often ill-informed.
Prices are often ridiculous. IF I buy a physical copy anymore, it will be through Ebay, and Amazon.
Digital copies tend to be cheaper after some time. (also is the future, and how is Gamestop gonna accomodate that one? lol)
I don't hate it, I just avoid it.
Hell the GameMarket here on Gamespot puts Gamestop to shame on prices.. (and soon I think it will on selection as well)
They touched me once... I touched back and with an eerie awkward silence in the store, I left and swore to never return.
Edit: Apparantly I edited this in 1969... GJ GS... GJ.
I hate them because the employees used to bring "new" games at their homes and play them. I even bought a game "new" here once, and the bottom of the disk was full of sludge and fingertips. Also the fact that they opened "new" games pissed me off. Now it seems that some practices have changed, the Gamestops in my area seem to keep the games sealed, behind the counter. So maybe I should give them another chance.
They open new games?? New-releases aren't opened. But i think that they open it for some reason later on to put it on their shelf. They carry little to no PC games and the amount they give for trade-ins is just insulting most of the time. The games i bought new was still plastic wrapped. But I did purchase it on the day of or in the first week of release.
One thing that I personally hate about Gamestop which I am surprised no one else mentioned is that they put those annoying stickers or used and some new games.
I like my collection to be perfect with no stickers, but when i try to take them off it comes off in pieces and leaves that sticker residue on the case that just makes it look bad.
Lets see they carry no pc games and the ones they do are overpriced.

I buy majority of my PC games from Gamestop since I prefer physical. Even got FEAR 3 for 30 bucks. It's not as bad as people make it out to be.
PC games at the Gamestop's around my area only gets one designated rack and the wall shelves are smothered with PS3/XBOX/Wii/PSP.
Of course the consoles are the real money maker, but they should show PC gamers a little more love than one measly book stand rack.

Why not use Amazon? It's cheaper and you'd be supporting a great company instead of a garbage one.

Pay for shipping...wait for shipping
or walk across the street from my school. Not to mention this store gets a lot of CEs that no one buys, and discounts them pretty well. SC2 CE for 50, Cataclysm for 50, MK for 70, and a lot more. Only time I order from Amazon is during the holidays because I must've picked up13 games for $15 and less.
-They have almost no PC games.
-They try to talk you into buying console games
-They try to talk you into buying used games
-They are over priced
-They rip you off heavily on trade-ins
-Their digital distribution system sucks.
I don't hate them, they have to make money, but I do refuse to buy anything form them unless there is no way to avoid it.
I think Gabe on PA summed it up pretty well a few years back - "Dear EB, this is how a **** store works. You go there and you buy the thing you want. No one gives you **** for not pre-ordering it. No one asks you to pre-order games you might want six months from now. They don't try and sell you a used copy. You just walk in and buy what you want."
