yeah, but not by much. When on battery power, it spends most of its time with the multiplier at 6x. 6x180=1.08GHz. Itruns at my new overclocked 2.33GHz only when plugged into an AC outlet.

I've already noticed an increase in processing speed. I ripped a Blu-ray title last night, and converted it into a WMV-HD file. Big jump form when it was running at 1.73GHz. In fact, it now nearly encodes as fast as my Opteron at 3.0GHz. :)

As for your second comment: what does Alt F4 do?

While converting Blu-ray to WMV-HD, I recorded a max CPU temperature of 85C at 2.33GHz.

Didn't throttle or crash, so it seems fine. I'm guessing mobile CPUs were meant to tolerate more heat.

Yeah! But it'll make a great little computer/heater in the winter. The palm rests were nice and toasty warm, and the air coming out of the fan was actually warmer than what comes out of my crappy furnace. :P

I doubt I could cook with it, but I'd bet that it's cranking out enough BTUs to keep a small cup of coffee kinda warm, if I placed it right next to that almost burning-hot fan. :)

I don't play games on it, so I don't mind the absence of a true video card.

It's more of a workhorse laptop, and I'm still pretty amazed at the fact that, at 2.33GHz, it's able to convert a Blu-Ray disk into a 1080p WMV file almost as quickly as my 3.0GHz Opteron desktop system. :o

Once ya put them to work, these C2Ds are amazing. Yeah, I discovered that only a couple days ago. :P

I guess the PCI bus is locked on this. I installed a different hard drive (to protect my data, in case the PCI bus wasn't locked), installed XP on the drive, and boosted the clock speed even higher. I'm now running at a bus speed of 195MHz (780MHz QDR), resulting in a new overclocked laptop speed of...2.54GHz. Completely stable. Max temperature isn't that much higher...88 degrees C. No throttling or crashing.

This is the absolute most I could get out of it. Anything higher, and it would start freezing. Probably needed more voltage, which even I'm smart enough to know is a Laptop No-No. :P

At 2.54GHz, it has finally caught up to my 3.0GHz Opteron desktop in Blu-Ray to WMV-HD conversion speed. Pretty amazing chunk of silicon Intel's created here. :)
