Try the x86 version, x64 really sucks for playing games!

it shouldn't be the problem of x64; it works well on vista x64; guess xp x64 is the problem.

OK, so I lied.

Apparently, all the files extracted during the install, but it froze at the very end.

I closed the installer and now all the files are there, AND the game works fine. I only played for 20 minutes though.

Also, what's the diff between the x86 and x64? I'm using Windows XP 64-bit in a fresh install, but I have TWO sets of Program Files folders: Program Files, and Program Files (x86)

Why's that?

I don't see how it's a waste of time to use a faster operating system. Since installing XP 64-bit, the only hold-up I've run into is iTunes not wanting to work. Other than that, I have actually saved lots of time because everything loads faster and runs smoother.

I guess wherever you live, people define words by the opposite of what they really mean. Hence, "a waste of time" is actually something that SAVES you time, right? I get it now!

I used Windows XP x64 for more than 6 months before switching to Vista Ultimate x64. It is definitely worth for a fast machine with plenty of RAMs. I am playing games (released between 1999 - 2009) and except few cases everything is working fine.

Vista already has much better support. Xp 64bit was an expirement and itdoesn't utilize memory as well as Vista 64bit. I suggest you upgrade...you will get itunes working again. Using the Windows 7 beta mightbe better than using Xp 64bit.

What makes xp 64 so different from 32 though?

I've never used it until this most recent install a few days ago, and the only thing I've noticed is a noticable performance improvement over xp 32.

Think about it from my perspective. I've got a stable operating system that works great SO FAR. I've already installed and re-downloaded a bunch of games on Steam (I can only DL 90GB per month). Wouldn't it just be better to wait for the next Windows release and get that, rather than re-format and reconfigure anything?

Besides, and I'm not trying to say you're wrong, but isn't there a reason why MS has blatantly said that Vista is crap and they're "moving on?"
