Iwas just wondering if anyone know's which one there going to be sticking with? or which one would be better for "future" upgrades, if able too, or are both just all random, and either one is good.

AM3 (gaming, encryption, everything else)/LGA1366 (gaming, heavy encoding and rendering etc.)

If you have money to spare go for LGA1366, if not then go for Socket AM3, LGA1156 is a dead platform.

unfortunately i cant choose either, would need new mobo, so im sticking with my mobo. see sig... (am2+) and upgrading to a phenom II 940 quad. that should get me a great performance increase over my 6000+ dual core,

not to mention a dx11 nvidia 300 series card, and maybe upgrade to ddr2 1066 ram. should hold me on for a few years. before i have to do a mostly full upgrade again.

but if you have the money, i would say go either AM3 or Icore7 1366.

I was in the same dilemma about a month ago and posted a similar topic here. I myself went with 1336, and Im glad I did. I do a lot of video editing and gaming, so taking advantage of what the 1336 socket processors could do was good for me.. As far as performance goes, they are both good.. But for me 1336 wins hands down. Rendering, gaming, multitasking etc etc

If you already have an AM2+ mobo you are doing the right thing. But why wait for nVIDIA while you can get an ATI 5xxx right now? There is a nice synergy between a Phenom II x4 940, an AMD chipset, and an ATI card.

well i might just wait till they come out so the price of the 58## series will come down, or maybe ati will release a smaller version of the 5870 or 5890... case size issues.. might have to just buy a new case. or cut the hdd cage out of this one.

depends on what they have to offer.. and maybe if there is news on any new ati card at that point. it will be a few months before i can upgrade gfx... first i have to do the phenom II 940.

LGA1156 will get more chips, but all of them will be low end dual core i3 and i5, so it won't be worth upgrading. If you can afford the extra money go for the LGA1366 that will get better chips in the future. However, the upgrade cost to an i9 is expected to be quite large. That's why people also suggest Socket AM3 as an alternative which can give you competitive performance right now and access to six cores in the future in the case you cannot afford this kind of money.

[QUOTE="Plo_Koon_basic"] also i did not ask about the AMD CPUS.Slig0

In that case, get the precious hyper super performing almighty omnipotent brilliantly shiny piece of metaaaaaaal... The I7!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I7 will give you 1.000.000 more frames in video games, save you 7.000.000.000 seconds in video encoding, and, most importantly, will beat any AMD and cook your lunch for you and put it in your bed! Don't even look at those cheap stupid AMD's that will give you the same... actually, much worse performance for less money! They won't even cook nor go shopping for you! Get an I7 now and be glad that you did so!

*It is recommended to feed an I7 three times a day because even omnipotent beings such as the almighty I7 can get hungry after all the hard work.*

lol now i do have to say that AMD is back, especially with phenom II quads(upgrading myself to a 940 deneb), those are for extreme gaming just as much as any intel cpu...

but that being said this post was a little over the top.. i think the Icore series are overhyped and overpriced myself.. lol but this was funny.

but to the TC, i would go with the LGA1366 icore7.... that is if you are upgrading your motherboard as well... but im also gonna say phenom II will do just about anything that icore7 will do.

And remember: Change your Phenom II to an I7 today and get 1209417% increase in performance! *Remember to feed it with fresh bought Phenom II's.*

lol no after i upgrade to phenom II 940, not having to change mobo... im holding off until ddr4/5 and a new socket cpu thats atleast 1 generation after the icore 7 and am3.

no need to upgrade each gen....

I would definitely go with the 1366 socket. It is overpriced, but it is top of the line. LGA1156 has problems, mainly Foxconn sockets on motherboards that are burning up and not having proper pin contact. I would personally stay away from the LGA1156 series unless money is a huge concern and you just can't afford building a LGA 1366 rig.

Well, if you put it that way I guess I can *turn sarcastic mode off*. You should have stated from the start why you do not want AMD under any circumstance as it is really a kick to people who try to help you find the best performing parts at a nice price.

I apologize.
