The most awesome story

I just finished bioshock... it has the best story of any game ive ever played as i write this im still in awe lol

what do the rest of you guys think or is there a game with a better story lin?

Counter Strike.

Terrorists story: You play as a rebel team of terrorists labelled as the "bad guys" by your enemy's but your love hate for democracy and coperal punishment has pushed you to extreme's where death is the only rebirth of your soul, as you push your way through extreme situations with hostages at your mercey and a bag of C4 set out to terrorise the goverment.

Counter terriorists: You play a rogue team/squad of up to 16 men set out to do whats right and defend peoples rights in every way possible, your child hood has taught you only one thing; you have to do what you have to do to make things better in life no matter what happens you gotta survive and not let numbers hold you back. You have the advantage of using supreme military weapons against nothing more than rebels with AK's.

After a year of warfare and slaughter it only got worse as a group of CT's where infected by a bug that turned them in to the living dead with only one goal... to kill, since this day CT's and T's have put their past behind them for the greater of man kind and the survival of a civilisation is in their hands to prevent the disease from spreading using baracades as a defensive method we will survive.

Hl 1, portal, vampire the masquerade bloodlines. That's the fps games that i think rival bioshock in story. Portal really has a great story, it has fancy effects too but the story is awesome.can0of0cheese

If you are going to say Portal, then you have to count in Half life 2 and Half life, considering the story ties in with them and only makes sense if both of those games are involved.. You can't just say Portal.

I'd say Half life 1 and 2 and Bioshock are 2 of the best stories for an FPS.

Lol I thought the Far Cry storyline was decent at first.. then the monsters came in and all storyline driven hope flew out the window.

Indeed. Portal has the best story that a 3 and a half hour game could ever hope to tell. I'm still in awe of it. That and it has the best end song ever in a game...... that has portents of the future, maybe???

I think Darth Kane has the right idea by dividing games by genre when it comes to storylines. An fps game is not going to have the same depth of story as an rpg or adventure game, generally speaking.

I thought Bioshock's story was good up through about 4/5 of the game. The last 20% or so, the was no more surprises and the end battle was dull. The final videos that I saw didn't do the endgame justice. It was kind of like they got tired towards the end of production and just half-assed the endgame videos....I don't know. I suppose you can say I was let down by it.

Only other game that I've truely enjoyed the story line on was Advent Rising. Too bad the gameplay was only about par...a bit of polishing that game could have rocked the world.

It really did, much better than Bioshock I think, their both pretty much the same though. Though Tetris never seemed to get old, I still play it today, not like Bioshock....

The Longest Journey/Dreamfall.

If anyone has not played these games and enjoys a great story, then you NEED to get this. Comes as a GOTY package now with both games and a Soundtrack disc(which is excellent!) for under $30.

Silent Hill 2 story is the most cinematic and scary story EVER in a game.

I was thinking that as well. I believe there's some sort of strange thing going on where you, as an RPG gamer, are not considered "cool" or "hardcore"anymore if you say you like BG better then Planescape Torment.

Now, Torment is great and all, and it has a fantastic story, perhaps better then BG2 but overall I still think BG2 is far better.
