BTW... windows vista is the worst thing that has EVER happened to this world. Worse than WW2, and worse than STD's. I hate this stupid program because it DDOESNT WorK
We can't help you if you don't tell us what kind of computer you have.
Oh, and also, this isn't the place to ask for PC hardware help. Try posting in PC Hardware Discussion.

There's nothing wrong with Vista as long as you know how to optimize the OS. There are all kinds of guides which I used to get my PC with a 64-bit install of Home Premium to run great. It's not as good as Windows 7, I'll give you that, but it isn't the piece of trash most people make it out to be. A few sites you may find helpful:
Tweakguide Tweaking Companion (long but useful)
Vista Annoyances Resolved
TweakVista
More Tips
Speedy Vista (helps cut down on background processes considerably, just be careful you don't kill a necessary process)
Hard drive Tweak for better performance
There are loads more, you just have to do some searching. Programs like CCleaner and AusLogics DiskDefrag can help make your computer run better, too, and both are free. I recommend not using an anti-virus program and just use Windows Defender (call me crazy, but I've been doing this for over a year and have had 0 viruses). Update IE7 to IE8 or just use an alternative browser like Firefox 3 or Google Chrome. Make sure all your software is updated.
I hope these tips help! If you really hate Vista just upgrade to Windows 7 later this year. Also, keep in mind that service pack 2 is just around the corner...
Im frustrated because its not letting me play battlefield vietnam, and occasionaly doesnt let me play 1942. I have a ASUS g50vt-x6...... i would really like some help with this problem. I would call microsoft, but they dont post any numbers to call. Ea tech support also doesnt offer any numbers. my first computer experience is so much worse than i had hoped for

Make sure you install all the drivers for your PC, especially your graphics card drivers. If this is your first PC experience I really recommend skimming the Tweakguides tweaking companion I linked above.
Ok here is what it tells me when i try play bf vietnam...
"BF vietnam has stopped working. Windows will notify you if a solution is found" (something like that) Also, it happens to me sometimes when i try to play 1942 online.

Bitter much? Works great for me.
Same, its treated me better than xp.I always get such a laugh out of people who buy laptops to game on and then whine they cant get them to work. BF Vietnam works fine for me but I have a GAME system.....Not a mobile office word processor.
Before you throw it out the window or smash it to bits, I'll buy it from you! I'm sure it will work fine for me...

sounds like you had a rough childhood. anyways, I got a laptop for college, so i figured i would get one worthy of gaming.
WEll ive found out the problem.. With some extensive research, ive learned the refresh rate on this computer must be 60 (the lowest mine offers is 61) and to fix the problem all you need to do is plug in an external moniter. (i wouldnt have guessed that one either) but all in all its about trial and error. I thank you all for your suggestions and imput and im glad i can now play bf vietnam
