Picked up this game from the Steam sale for $4.99 a few days ago

This is one of the best game I've played, runs extremely good on max settings (Average 120FPS) and the semi cel shaded graphic looks really pretty.

It's a game I can relax, explore and never worry about dying or restarting a check point. The control is the best part, it's so good and smooth, it's so much easier to control than Assassin's greed series. In fact, the control is perfection it's on par with PS3's Uncharted 2.

Combat is pretty fun too since there's amazing amount of combos you can try out, since you can't die in this game you can experiment with all kinds of crazy combos. The acrobat air combo looks epic and feels extremely satisfying when you pulled it off.

It's basically just an adventure 3D platformer but a very fun one. I highly recommend this game.

Controller or keyboard & mouse? I'm guessing controller right? It doesn't seem like the game would be enjoyable on kb&mouse...

Warrior Within was good, but it wan't the best one. I did enjoy the chase scenes which had my heart goin double time when i played it. Being chased by the drakul?? or something like that.

And I totally agree with the you OP that this game was awesome. The cel-shaded grapgics were really cool. I played it on the PS3 when it first came out and thought the ending was one of the best game endings of all time. IMO.

It's good artistically, but gets old fast, they tried something but failed, PoP can't work in an open world. You should try the Forgotten Sands, it's the best because it's more or less a remake of PoP 3D (the best PoP there was).

I thought Two Thrones was good, but it had alot of issues.

The story was incredibly cliched, The game felt extremly linear, dark prince was not fun to play, etc.

Oh this is Prince of Persia 2008. I thought you were talking about forgotten sands. POP 2008 is decent but I prefer forgotten sands which I think is rather underrated.

Yeah, I thought you were talking about Forgotten Sands too.

Oh well, I'm quite excited to dive into the PoP series myself. I've only played a bit of Sands of Time and this one at a friends, but I picked up the PoP pack during the sales. I'm really late to the party, but whatever, just happy to finally start playing them.

Good, no? amazing for its time? yes. The Forgotten Sands is that on a new engine with better combat.

The only reason it had such low scores is because of bugs, 3 copies and I never managed to reach the end.

I enjoyed it very much too and think its underappreciated.

You pretty much summed it up its a game you can relax while playing and just enjoy the ride. There is not much of a challenge or a lot of combat and those few moments of combat have button mashing QTE but the rest was still good.

I would have normally felt it got repetitive quickly with the backtracking but because the landscape changes completely after you heal the land it didn't feel that way. Having Elika accompany you also helps and the no death part was essentially just a disguised checkpoint system. Its does eventually get repetitive though. Its one of those games I played through once and enjoyed that play through but I could not play it again.

I've only played a tiny bit of Warrior Within still plan to complete it so I'm not judging it completely but I already dislike the game. The music during combat is really annoying and out of place. It attempted to be dark & mature but it seems like a perfect example of getting that wrong.

TC isn't claiming its the best PoP by the way just saying this one which tends to be overlooked is very good and one of the best games he has played.

I have yet to play Forgotten Sands will give it a go soon. I read its the closest to SoT but combat is too easy and there isn't much of a story.

PoP was never about combat, unlike any game since SoT, Forgotten Sands doesn't consider itself big on fights, it brings back exactly what the series lost since SoT, puzzles, pure puzzles and adventures based purely on them.

Indeed I look at games like PoP an Tomb Raider the same way - not about combat. I was just commenting on that I have read many places bring up that criticism by saying whilst it put you up against hordes of enemies it felt shallow because they were too easy compared to even before. That and it was too safe. I haven't played it yet so I'm not saying anything, I will probably like the return to its roots.

If you are going to make combat a major part of the game, you best make it good. There is a lot of fighting in Forgotten sands, and none of it is all that enjoyable after the first couple hours.

Eh, it didn't fail to me. Personally, i consider it the best of the PoP series because the combat system is fluid and is at a absolute height in WW. I usually dislike games with dark tones, but not this one because the transition from Sands of Time to Warrior Within made sense. Think about it.

The prince was tormented by a demon for 7 years, and that demon is still chasing him. How would anyone feel? I was surprised to see the prince retain his mental sanity and not go completely insane.

Didn't like the 2008 Prince of Persia at all. I even prefered The Forgotten Sands to this one. Sands of Time was still the most memorable and best.

It's as enjoyable as it should be, wave of monsters, kill them easily, get to parts that make PoP a great series. Ever since Sands of Time PoP was at least half about battles, maybe that's what PoP is to you, but you wouldn't turn Tomb Raider into a shooter, so PoP doesn't have to become a hack and slash game with some acrobatics.

Wait what? I preferred 2008 rather than Forgotten Sands: the combat was awful, the story was forgettable and didn't explain why the Prince changed from SoT to WW. I also expected Dahaka but nothing happened. IMO, that's the worst PoP ever (not counting 3D).

So you're saying the combat in 2008 was great, it explained why the prince got changed and the story was great? It's a series of spinoffs and you're saying it like it's news?

PoP is an unique series, that the developers tried to change since SoT, it's not suppose to be about an amazing story or who knows what kind of combat.

PoP 1 - platforming

PoP 2 - platforming

PoP 3D - platforming

SoT - hybrid, platforming and combat

WW - combat

T2T - story/cinematic experience

2008 - new concepts

TFS - platforming

I don't know what kind of game you're expecting from PoP, but from the looks of it, you don't want it, you want a game with great combat and great story.

I'm not saying PoP 2008 was great but it had good concepts like Elika, a good story (which is sad they aren't doing a sequel), and the graphics. TFS, on the other hand, tried to use platforming and combat but the latter was lame, why they couldn't use a combo system like they did in WW, T2T and 2008? And no, I don't want combat, I prefer platforming or puzzles. But if they want to include combat at least do it well, not just press the same button for do the same attacks and kill a wave of monsters.

I hate that game... I picked it up in a 2 for £10 years back now in Game and while I did enjoy it at first, the repetitive gameplay got old after a couple of hours (and it really is the same thing over and over). It does look nice though yes.

I played it on ps3, and imo, it's not bad, however, some boss fight is annoying which requires to smash your buttons rapidly.

That's one of the reason i dont bother to replay it again for trophies collection. I wonder how does it work on keyboard when you have to smash some keys so rapidly...

I remember a friend of mine playing WW and SoT years back and I never really got into them. I really enjoyed PoP 2008 though. I thought the mechanics with Elika were really cool and the story was good. The platforming seemed on par with the previous installments and the combat was decent. Overall I would rate it as one of my favorite games from that year and I'm really hoping for a sequel with the new prince. IMO the new prince is much better than the previous one.

I don't mean to say I dislike the whole game that was a bit too direct way of putting it but I do dislike the music which just felt completely out of place with something that is attempting to create a dark atmosphere it went with anyting that fell into that category and not in relation with the game.

Astonishingly underrated game. It's one of my favorites of the current generation. Shame it didn't sell as well as Ubisoft wanted. Not sure if we're going to see a sequel.
