The Halo series is THE most over-rated game to ever be released. Reasons for this include the following:

-Crap storylines (all three of them)

-Crap gameplay (all three of them)

-The worst enemy concepts ever created in a game.

-The worst vehicle names ( eg.pelican??????mongoose??????)

-Worst weapons in a game

-worst dual wielding pistols in a game ever.

-worst enemy voicing

-worst game universe ever created.

-Crap characters in a game.

-Crap weapon sound effects (eg. machinegun on halo 3)

-Worst attempt to 'next-gen' graphics.

-Cheesy dialogue (all three of them)

-worst military rank (Sergeant Major???????????????)

that is it for now, more faults of halo series to be posted later.

P.S. Killzone was better than this and still lives up to its name the 'HALO KILLER'

Yeah, I agree with the last guy. I dont hate halo, i just think it's terribly overrated. It's a solid game, but I hate that it's more or less the icon of our entire indusrty right now. So many better games in the genre that don't have the benefit of a multi million dollar ad campaignTeamR

I totally agree with you in every way, shape and form. Halo games are good but they get WAY too much attention when there are heaps of better games out there that are selling nowhere near as much as they should be. Also the Halo series has aged so fast, so many games surpass it in basically every way now.

I just fail to see why "Sergeant Major" as a rank can be seen as critiscism to the quality of a game....I mean it is a real existing rank and in most countries it is considered the highest rank within enlisted field troops...much like Master Chief was

But at the most points I totally agree with you...absolutely not worth the hype (I especcially cant see why people like the character so much, really hes boring and totally uncharismatic)

I wont say Halo is crap.............. As it isnt I will say.

Halo CE was great
Halo 2 was average-meh.

Halo 3 - SP is average/ bit sucky
MP is great - perfect for console FPS.

I do think that Crysis bones it in every way possible, and HL2 offers a far more superiour SP experience.... And Bioshock... and Stalker.

MP wise it is great though. Best console FPS by a mile - perfect for it. However after playing two hours of Crysis MP - thats now my current favourite overall. CS, TF2, BF offer better MP than Halo 3 imo, but Halo 3s is still very very good.

Oh and the dual wielding in Halo 3 is great. Best dual wielding system in any game.

I totally agree with you in every way, shape and form. While i'm not a fan of the Halo series and i admit i've bashed it in the past i have to admit that compared to a lot of console FPS games i think the Halo series is probably one of the better if not best console FPS games around.

However i do have to agree that the Halo series seems to rely more on a run and gun style of gameplay which is hardly exciting, innovative or bringing anything to the FPS genre. But that being said i do think Halo offers some solid FPS action for a casual console gamer who just wants to plug in and play a few hours or minutes shooting aliens.

I recently had the pleasure of being able to play the Halo 3 multiplayer on a friends 360 and i was pleasantly surprised by how much simple fun you can have by running and gunning. She laughed at how much i struggled to work the controller, its been a good 5 years atleast since i properly played anything on a console so i suck at using controllers.

While the Halo games may not compare well against FPS games on the PC i have to admit that the Halo series has had a deserved success on consoles considering the lack of quality shooters out on them.

I first got into the Halo series (outside of briefly trying 2) with Halo 3. I must say I was extremely dissapointed. The campaign, outside of the orchestrated music, was crap. Tons of backtracking and little of interest. The heralded multiplayer is even worse as far as I'm concerned. Halo is the most overrated franchise that I can think of and it's the opiate of the console masses. There are much better alternatives out there, but it would seem that much of the population has been brainwashed into thinking it's something special. But as long as they're happy and buying games, it's mostly a good thing.... 6.5/10 as far as I'm concerned.

Ok correction - LINEAR FPS.

Crysis is in a whole different department.

I recently had the pleasure of being able to play the Halo 3 multiplayer on a friends 360 and i was pleasantly surprised by how much simple fun you can have by running and gunning. She laughed at how much i struggled to work the controller, its been a good 5 years atleast since i properly played anything on a console so i suck at using controllers.

To me Halo-series equals from two to eight friends in the same room having a blast either playing coop or striking each other down with a lightsword. Sometimes gaming should be social and fun. It does not have to be all tactics, thoughtprovoking story and super graphics all the time. The multiplayer/social aspect of this game is what makes it into one of the best/funniest games I've ever played. But I understand why people who have not played it the same way are a bit more critical, I admit that the SP could be better, at least in Halo 2 and 3, too much of the same.

i own halo and a 360. i played halo 3 for a week, got mvp in every ranked match (prolly cuz i was playing a bunch of noobs at the lower ranks, but i was too bored to continue on). the game is, like an above poster said, perfect multiplayer for consoles. i couldnt complain, yet here i am playing cs 1.6 released in 1998 and earlier if you count the betas with a 400+ dollar game system sitting behind me. pc just delivers a MUCH better multiplayer experience. therefore, halo is overrated simply because most people dont know how to install a new video card or RAM in their pc to see just how much better pc gaming is. to console players, halo is GREAT. to me its fine, just not nearly as good as any of my pc games. buying an xbox360 was the biggest financial mistake of my life so far.

oh and to another above poster, id like to agree that halo is fun because of the social part of it. like every kid in my shool (well everyone im friedns with or even just in good standing with) like 60 kids play halo 3 on xbox. i bought it to play with them instead of random cs clans (one ive been in for 2 years and is more friendly) or WoW guilds. i play WoW though and find if you have a good guild you can get into some incredibly funny and random conversations, or on cs clan forums threads go NUTS. the social part of halo can be had on pc

Ok i really don't understand halo haters at all. How does hype and attention have any thing to do with the bloody game??

Halo 1 came out in 2001 and you know what it was the best bloody halo game ever made. Look at the bloody poll for favorite lvls in halo universe -halo one wins by a land slide. Halo one when it came out was the best fps, out there and you know what it was on a bloody console. To be honest i hated halo 2 and halo 3 to me was just a good squeal nothing more and i was extremely disappointed that they did no show the full story, you Had to read all those hidden terminal to get it.....

- Only reason some one would hate halo is they never played halo 1!!!! in 2001 -it set the bar for last 6 years. Or never played halo 1 period.

- Does not own any halo games

- has only played it for a bit at a friends house and was already biased before he played it for 10 mins

- is a stuck up PC player ? - don't understand that mentality at all

- Does not own an xbox and just wants to put it down

-Is jealous because it has all this attention and many better games "get no where near as much attention" still this has nothing to do with the game itself

- just like jumping on the bandwagon of putting a good game down "with great reviews all round" and seems to think its a conspiracy- GS is owned by M$ and every one is out to get them

-finally is just a normal person who honestly did not like halo- though why he or she would bother to waste the time to constantly say that it was horrible on the Internet is beyond me ?

halo was the best fps but the best fps on consoles and that's what gave it all the hype and praise. it was the fps all console only gamers were waiting for but to think it better than the fps that were on pcs is pretty funny

I don't hate the Halo franchise. I just hate the hype around it.

I was in Best Buy yesterday and they had all there Halo 3 edition everything in one place trying to get rid of it, and there was alot. Thankfully, the market wasn't as dumb as everyone thought. Just by putting "official Halo 3 edition" on everything isn't going to make it sell better.

I'm surprised there wasn't a Halo 3 edition of Call of Duty 4.

Actually, halo was the game PC gamers had been waiting for. Halo's hype was built up on the pc, then about a year from release Microsoft bought bungie and made it their xbox killer app. Maybe thats why most people consider halo1 the best in the series ;)

either way, the gameplay was supposed to be a whole lot more ambitious than it is currently. However, due to console limitations and microsoft's typical demands, it's has degenerated into halo3. A cash cow. Good game though, just borign rehash. I'm glad bungie split free and is working on some new IPs again. Can't wait to see what they pump out
