Sorry to hijack, but I was just wondering if it's true the movies are in 720p and not 1080pInfinite-Zr0
HD DVD and Blu-ray are both stored in native 1080P format on the disc.
Whether it plays 1080P or 720P depends on your television. Keeping in mind it depends on the native resolution of the television, not what kind of signal it can handle. A 720P television getting a 1080P signal is going to display a 720P picture.
OP.
The best looking HD movies I have seen to date:
Pirates 3
Bourne Ultimatum
Serenity
Chronicles of Riddick
Hott Fuzz
Kingdom of Heaven
King Kong
Transformers
Some of the Worst Movies in HD I have seen
Goodfellas
Ocean's 13
Not really a movie but....Planet Earth on Blu-ray.gmastersexay
Yeah I heard Planet Earth on Blu-Ray looks amazing.
2001: A Space Oddysse (don't know the real English name ;)) has got a great quality for it's age. The movie is from 1968 :) And as someone already said: GoodFellas got a very poor quality. Some upscaled DVD's look better.uRan_Ehr
In English it's 2001: A Space Odyssey. That's in Blu-Ray?!? That's old... I prefered 2010 because it explained more about the story, but for the large time gap between the making of both movies I don't remember seing much of a difference visually...
I've heard that animated stuff is better for showing the contrast and colours of your TV, don't one so I can't really recommend anything. Though I would love to see The Clone Wars battle! Star Wars episode 2 I think?

I actually have Ep 2: Attack of the Clones on DVR and it looks fantastic. The highlights are the chase through Coruscant toward the beginning of the film, the skirmish between Obi Wan and Boba Fett in the asteroid field and of course the various clone solldier battle scences and the attacks against the Jedi. This is a DVR recording through Comcast which I assume is upscaled a HD recording on Blu-ray or HD-DVD does not yet exist - not sure if a proper transfer would look sharper. It does look much better than the upscaled result of my standard def version. I've seen Ep 1, 2 & 3 in HD and teh second looks the best by far.

He's 100% correct. It looks absolutely stunning and a perfect example of what Blu Ray quality is.
Alright so i dont watch alot of movies but i do have a PS3 and a decent HD ready television. The games so far have been blowing me away once ya switch to 1080i (max my tv can handle). So now i am lookingfor a single blueray movie that i can pop in whenever i want to show off my setup.
Is there any movie that currently reigns video quality wise?
I dont really care about the subject horror.romance or even an nature documentary will suffice.
Any recomendations are welcome.
