*Slams head against table*

Ok, so I'm interested in politics and I love games so I thought it would be a fun and quirky game for me. I was wrong. All I found myself doing was setting up the odd political office, selecting from a list of basic topics for Ads and speeches and just looking at the opinion numbers of each state to see where I need to go next to boost. The game mechanics feel tedious, bland, and over simplified and the music is drilling a hole into my head.

Has anyone else played this game and can tell me that there is a light at the end of the tunnel or did I just throw $20 out the window?

The correct answer is always condemn politicians as corrupt filth, McCain is the lesser of the two evils, and Obama is everything that is wrong with politics.

I saw this game and wondered if I should buy it or not, for much the same reasons as you stated.

I read a review that didn't really help. Stating in short :

"The Political Machine 2008

AKA - Cheating Lying B#stards Simulator 2008"

" Occasionally veers on gimmickry, but it's genuinely a smart, novel strategy game"

The reviewer scored it a 79

Now the game is cheap but I don't want to waste my money if it is also crap! :(

It's not a very good game. There's no option or even need to come up with a national party platform as all you need to do is look at the top three issues in each state you want to focus on and then tailor your ads to those issues.

If you want a much deeper, more cerebral political sim, take a look at Democracy.

I learned that most states don't like high gas prices and that apparently you can move the polls by simply making a brief appearance in the state......very educational...

What this poster said. TPM was fun for a week, and then it got old. Democracy was the same price and I spend roughly a month modding the hell out of it (some of my mods are on the site, BTW, have a look for 'Pandaman' :).)
