My computer is running on 2.2ghz with 512mb of ram. I have installed The Sims 2 plus 4 expansions (uni, nightlife, OFB and pets). The loading times are PAINFUL, and i wouldnt even think of having a semi-large lot. It would just lag. Putting all the performance specs on low doesnt change much except the game looks uglier. Is there any other way to make it quicker, its not like my computer is old. I bought it at the end of last year, and the Sims 2 was made in 2004.

Ram isn't always the issue, but 1gig is necessary for today's standards. If you are using your onboard video then you need a new(ish) card. The video on your motherboard is not meant for gaming, even the sims 2. I have a 7600 geforce gt and it runs fine, maxed. Just find out what will work with your budget.

Minimum means the least possible amount to run. It'll run, but like crap. Recommended is the amount to play the game around default settings. This does not mean you can play it at maxed settings without slowdown.

Do you have any custom content? (Downloads off the net) Because it looks like a download addiction. If it is try to clean out your downloads folder. Also if the houses you are playing are in large lots with 3+ sims really slows down the game.In some cases the game crashes

The lower they push the specs on that label, the more people will think they can play it and go buy the game. Once you bought it, they could care less if you can run it or not.
