Seems to be a growing trend.
Aliens Colonial Marines... Cancelled... not cancelled.
Alan Wake... Cancelled on pc... Not cancelled.
Ghost Recon future warrior... Cancelled on pc... Not cancelled.
Stalker... Cancelled... Not cancelled.
GOG.com... shutting down... Not shutting down.
Good news though, I enjoyed Stalker SOC, but I couldn't get into Clear Sky, but marketing is getting more deceitful every year.
I'm happy to hear this but I'd be LOTs happier if I knew it wasn't being designed for consoles.

Since GDC failed to get a console deal I'm pretty sure that the game will be PC exclusive. For now at least.
My guess is they might get a publisher for the console ports if the game will be successful on PC (like Witcher 2 for example)
I wonder if they'll drop the console development. It was foolish for them to start trying to bring the series to the consoles in the first place.

Was it foolish for any other reason besides it being a cult hit on the PC, or is there some hatred in there? :P

I think he means from a technical standpoint. The graphics will have to be soo dumbed down so the game will run stable on the consoles, that it would probably be an ugly mess.

Pretty much. I mean I just can't see a niche game like Stalker being brought over to consoles & being successful.
wouldn't it be wise to finish the game first and then start porting? Besides..we all know that unless the dumb down the game on the consoles it wouldn't sell much.I wonder if they'll drop the console development. It was foolish for them to start trying to bring the series to the consoles in the first place.

Bad example, The Witcher 2 was designed from the get to for console, it was just release and finished for PC first.

It really is/was. The game just doesn't seem like one that would do well on consoles. I guess with the success of Metro people will try it out due to a somewhat similar setting and look, but S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 (if kept the same as the rest of the series) is not a fast paced, action packed FPS. When you get into a gun fight, it can get very hectic and intense, but the rest of the game is very survival focused. I could see it getting the Mass Effect 2 treatment though. A whole bunch of the game getting streamlined/simplified, while still being a great game, just not what it was in the first few games.

- it's easier on the devs it it goes PC exclusive and gets ported than being made side by side - console development is costly - console market probably wouldnt be too keen on stalker's gameplay as it is on the PC now - the environment and AI and other parts may need to suffer in the name of console hardware. Please Log In to post.
