Well. I got my new gaming PC not long ago, and it seems to run the Crysis demo awfully.

The computer is as follows:

Intel Core 2 Duo 2.33GHz

4094 MB RAM

Windows Vista 64bit

GeForce 8800 GTS - SLI. (Two cards)

I used the latest Nforce Driver, 169.something, and then I tried to install the beta driver 169.04, but it didnt make any changes, except it made the mountains in Crysis completely white...
All my drivers are up-to-date, and yes, I have turned the SLI on inside the Nvidia-Controlpanel.

My computer can barely choke Crysis at 1024x900, Medium graphics, no anti-aliasing.
If I turn anti-aliasing on x16 Q and CSAA, the game crashes. If I turn all the graphics high, with x4 AA, the game crashes.

Simply, if I want a decent performance, I have to run it on low, with no anti aliasing on 860x800 resolution.

I've seen that some people have the same problem as me, is there anything to do about it?

-Regards

:| Looks like you've been had.

If my PC with an E6600 @ 2.88 Ghz, ONE 8800GTS,and2 gigs of ram, can run Crysis on Dx9 withall high settings on XP.

Then there is seriously something wrong with your PC. Is it premade? What country are you from the? :?

I wouldn't exactly say that. I wasn't expecting Crysis to run soo well on my computer. I almost had a stroke when I realize I was able to run it without a hitch on my PC.

Speaking of which, I'm fiending for some Crysis right now, cant stop thinking about it!

You are doing something very wrong. Do other games give you crashing issues?

From what I understand Crysis does not take advantage for SLI, and if it does
it's not really bad. I read some people said that in SLI mode, only
one video card heats up, while other idles, which means it does not use 2nd card.

Developers promise to better optimize SLI support, but it usually takes around year after
realese for it to function properly.

You would have been better off with single GTX or Ultra.
I have GTS , I can run on semi-high with 1280 resolution at 30-40fps.

its your drivers... SLI will most likely show a very minimal increase with new games because there isn't really much driver support in a few more driver updates you should be hitting 1680x1280 at 20 FPS with no AA (which is what you should be gettin gnow)

Well the retail version runs a lot better than the demo. I also had the crashing problem in the demo with any kind of AA turned on, but this is not the case in the retail version. I also believe that SLI wasn't working in the demo, but it is working in the retail product.

SLI works in the full game as long as you enable it in the console and have the newest beta drivers installed.

Does this only have with Crysis? or all games?

If its all games, defnitely its either Vista-64 or PSU. I had the same problem before, (just one 8800GTS).

If its only Crysis, I guess you will just have to wait for new driver, or perhaps a fault in the gpu(s) itself.

Are you sure they are even 8800gts? People can easily change the heatsink/fan piece of a 8800 gts and put it on a 7800 and you would never know the diferrence. Check your control panel or some third party ocing tool and verify the specifications on the video cards, as well as the cpu.

The readme of Crysis says it is supposed to have a native multi-GPU codepath so that it could support SLi or Crossfire in its game engine. I would think SLi/CF would have netted SOME kind of increase with a game like this.

Not lying.. This is the prices in my country. Though, its not the problem, could you stick to my question?

You also have to look at where and when he bought this hardware. If I counted every everything about my newest computer (monitor, UPS, etc.), all this stuff cost me well around $2400, 600 of which was just for the widescreen monitor I use. A basic model widescreen at 1680x1050 may be had for as little as $250-300 now, but that wasn't such the case a year ago when I bought this one; further, this model has component/composite/S-video inputs as well, allowing me to have my consoles hooked up to it and no longer require a TV. Hell, even in Puerto Rico (where I lived for a while to care for my grandparents), the $50~ set of speakers I have now would cost $90 after international shipping (even though P.R. is a commonwealth of the United States and Newegg will ship there, shipping companies like FedEx and UPS still consider the island overseas territory, and thus heavily rape you on shipping times/fees) and about $25 in import tax. Hell, Apple's website won't even recognize a p.r. address, suggesting that they don't even do business there. :(

I could've sworn the demo doesn't support multi-cards setup. I heard only the full game would support that.

Try disabling SLI and see if the performance would go up (for the demo).

That sucks man. I just ran the benchmark with all settings on very high (xp hack) with 2x AA and a couple of tweaks that don't really affect performance and I get 25 FPS average, 32 FPS average without the 2xAA.

...and my system cost me 1100 USD (sig).

Resolution @ 1024x768, set everything to Med & then put 2X AA & then put Effects @ High. (After all 2 settings @ High & others @ Med. Then you will be able to play more smoothly than before)

Edit - I played @ 1280x1024 & everything @ High settings. Most of time is under 25FPS & some times 30FPS.

i was having a crash issue with one of the versions of the beta drivers with the 64bit crysis executable. try running in 32bit mode. performance wise it makes no differance 32 vs. 64 bit.

Umm... I'm on XP Pro, X1950 Pro 512, 2 gig RAM and an E6600 @ 3.3GHz and I can run it all medium fine...
